Description
Zandra, known as Katherine Rii in the original Japanese version, is a high-ranking officer in the Boazanian Empire's military. Emperor Zambojil assigns her as an aide to Prince Zardoz (Prince Heinel) during the Earth invasion, tasked with supporting his campaign to conquer the planet and eliminate the human resistance protecting his uncle, Baron Hrothgar. Her characterization varies across adaptations; the live-action series *Voltes V: Legacy* portrays her as openly affectionate and romantically involved with Zardoz, contrasting the original anime's depiction of their relationship stemming from childhood friendship.

She exhibits unwavering loyalty to Zardoz, consistently prioritizing his safety and ambitions. Zandra protects him by foiling assassination plots, such as those involving aides Zuhl and General Oslak. Her devotion drives her to personally pilot combat missions to prove her worth, though Zardoz sometimes reprimands her for recklessness. While ruthless towards humans—viewing them as inferior and participating in their subjugation, including ordering executions like Mary Ann Armstrong's—she shows kindness exclusively to fellow Boazanians.

Zandra survives an attempted assault by General Oslak, who uses a mind-control device; Zardoz intervenes to halt the attack. She experiences jealousy when Marquise Zaki flirts with Zardoz, though he rejects Zaki's advances. Throughout the conflict, Zandra voices suspicions about traitors like Oslak and Zaki within their ranks, concerns Zardoz initially dismisses but which are later validated when Oslak confesses to scheming against Zardoz under Zambojil's orders.

Within Boazanian society, Zandra upholds the empire's hierarchical caste system favoring horned nobles like herself over hornless citizens, participating in their oppression and aligning with the ideology of racial superiority. Her tactical roles include deploying beast fighters against Earth's defenses, coordinating espionage, and engaging in direct combat with the Voltes team. During a pivotal confrontation, she battles Steve Armstrong but is overpowered until rescued by Zardoz. Her fate diverges: in the original anime, Emperor Zambojil executes her for failing to eliminate Prince Zardoz, while her ultimate resolution in *Voltes V: Legacy* remains undisclosed in the available materials.
