Description
Peasuke Soramame, whose full name is written 空豆ピースケ in Japanese, lives in Penguin Village as the younger brother of Taro Soramame. He is a classmate and close friend of both Arale Norimaki and Akane Kimidori. His height remains permanently short, never increasing with age, a source of personal disappointment for him, similar to Arale's stature. He consistently wears an animal hat, criticized by his brother Taro for cramping his style; this hat appears white in the original series and gray in the 1997 remake.
Insecure about his height and youthful appearance, Peasuke admires his older brother Taro and expresses a desire to be like him when grown. He collects autographs from individuals or beings he finds interesting. Generally timid and wimpy, he nonetheless serves as the most reasonable member within his friend group. He first met Arale on her inaugural day at Penguin Village Middle School, becoming friends after witnessing her break a tree. This event led to his inclusion in a friend group alongside Taro and Akane.
Peasuke participates in key events across the manga and anime. He joins Senbei and Arale on a time-traveling adventure to prehistoric ages using the Time Slipper, acquiring an egg that hatches into Gatchan. During the "Hello! Wonder Island" adventure, he accompanies Senbei, Arale, and Gatchan to Wonder Island to obtain a tear from the Ogre-King Gyaska for a love potion ingredient, encountering a vampire lady who bites Senbei before Arale repels her. He experiences romantic developments, including a first love with Hiyoko, whom he eventually marries; their future includes having a child named Poosuke.
