TV-Series
Description
Byrne Blood serves as a staff sergeant in the Empire Forces, initially dedicated to their military objectives. He pilots the experimental fox-type Zoid, the Gatling Fox, utilizing its advanced optical camouflage for covert operations and intelligence gathering.
During a mission targeting Republican bases, Byrne uncovers the Empire's unethical control of the Gatling Fox via a Z-O Visor, inflicting severe physical strain on the Zoid. This mistreatment causes the Gatling Fox to frequently lose control and attack Imperial forces. Confronted with the choice between his imminent promotion and the Zoid's survival, Byrne chooses the Gatling Fox. With Walter Bowman's assistance, he removes the lethal control visor, recognizing its continued use would fatally damage the Zoid's core. This act forces Byrne to betray the Empire and escape with the Gatling Fox.
Following his defection, Byrne encounters Leo Conrad and allies with him in subsequent conflicts. He demonstrates considerable skill piloting the Gatling Fox, effectively leveraging its optical stealth in combat. His technical expertise in Zoid mechanics is evident from his identification and resolution of the Z-O Visor's harmful effects.
In later engagements, Byrne assists in clearing hazardous Jaminga organisms from settlements. During this mission on Raps Island, he encounters excavator Ed Mais, who abandons him to face Imperial forces alone. Leo Conrad's group intervenes, aiding Byrne against the Imperial Army and cementing his alliance with the Republican-aligned fighters.
