Description
Ricky, also known internationally as Jet "Let's" Saiba and originally named Retsu Seiba, is one of the titular Let's Go Brothers alongside his younger brother Go "Go" Saiba. He sports red hair, red eyes, and a signature green hat, with red dominating his gloves, shirts, and Mini 4WD car designs.
Analytical and levelheaded, Ricky contrasts his brother's impulsiveness, prioritizing strategic racing with emphasis on control, stability, and cornering. As captain of the TRF Victorys during the World Grand Prix, he champions teamwork and formation racing, devising collective strategies over individual wins. Though typically calm, he shows frustration toward unethical tactics or his brother's defiance, staunchly rejecting destructive battle racing. He harbors a minor fear of heights.
His racing career launches with the Super Astute Jr., but gains prominence when mentor Dr. Tsuchiya gifts him the red-and-green Sonic Saber, later destroyed by battle racers at Dr. Ogami’s volcanic lab. He then pilots the balanced Vanguard Sonic, followed by the WGP-era Hurricane Sonic—renowned for high-speed drifting and the "Hurricane Power Dribble." Later cars include the Buster Sonic (featuring "Buster Turn") and the manga-exclusive Rodeo Sonic.
Two decades post-WGP in *Return Racers*, Ricky becomes a space engineer on a probe project per Dr. Tsuchiya’s recommendation. He returns to race his brother and confront antagonist Crusher Jiro, whose technology threatens Mini 4WD. In the spin-off *Let's & Go!! Tsubasa*, he mentors new racers like his nephew Tsubasa, though minimally races.
He shares a close but contentious bond with Go, respects Dr. Tsuchiya’s mentorship, and leads TRF Victorys teammates Ryo Takaba, Tokichi Mikuni, and J. Chīko Mikuni holds a minor crush on him.
Ricky appears throughout the main anime (*Let's & Go!*, *WGP*, *MAX*), the film *Bousou Mini Yonku Daitsuiseki!*, and manga sequels *Return Racers* and *Let's & Go!! Tsubasa*. His arc evolves from passionate racer to an engineer balancing his legacy in the sport.
