Description
Sixteen-year-old A-ko Magami, also called Eiko Magami, lives in Graviton City as a red-haired high school student. She exhibits superhuman physical traits: immense strength, remarkable speed, near-invulnerability, and acrobatic prowess. Distinctive black wristbands and bon bons attached to her socks regulate these powers; removing these limiters unleashes uncontrollable destructive force. Her standard sailor-style uniform doubles as functional battle attire, granting capabilities like adaptation to vacuum environments and the ability to breathe in outer space.
Her personality blends cheerfulness, friendliness, and politeness with a notoriously volatile temper that ignites extreme aggression when provoked. Despite her extraordinary powers, she maintains ordinary teenage preoccupations: oversleeping, rushing to school on time, part-time work, romantic interests, and fashionable clothes. Her most significant bond is with childhood friend C-ko Kotobuki, known since kindergarten. A-ko acts as C-ko's dedicated protector, displaying unwavering loyalty despite occasional frustration with C-ko's behavior; this relationship forms a core motivation across her stories.
In Project A-ko 4: Final, A-ko dramatically intervenes in Kei and Miss Ayumi's wedding ceremony, erupting through the floor in her battle suit. She clashes violently with rival B-ko Daitokuji amidst alien invasions and military conflicts. After C-ko is revealed as an alien princess and departs Earth with the Alpha Cygnan fleet, A-ko pursues the spacecraft alongside B-ko using a giant robot and flight suit. Their pursuit fails, sending them plummeting back to Earth. A-ko experiences deep sadness until C-ko unexpectedly returns, leading to emotional reconciliation and a promise to end hostilities with B-ko.
Beyond the primary continuity, alternate universes depict different versions of A-ko. In the "A-Ko the VS" OVAs, one iteration works as a bounty hunter on a desert planet, hunting tortoise-like aliens alongside B-ko as a cooperative partner. This A-ko wields a soul-attacking sword capable of harming intangible beings and shows markedly less affection toward C-ko, viewing her as an annoyance. Another divergent storyline portrays A-ko in a romantic relationship with C-ko within the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko narrative.
Her combat style emphasizes close-quarters engagements using martial arts techniques like the Screw Kick and Driver Kick. She occasionally employs improvised weaponry such as repurposed tank cannons or appropriated swords. Following Project A-ko 4: Final, indications suggest she may eventually graduate from Graviton High School and seek conventional employment, though her adult path remains ambiguously defined as narratives shift toward alternate realities.
