Raikou Minamoto, also known as Minamoto no Yorimitsu, served as a general during Japan's Heian era. Commanding armies under the Fujiwara clan, she defended human settlements against supernatural threats, chiefly the Oni forces of Abe no Seimei. She relied on tactical prowess and direct combat with demonic entities.

She presented as a heavily built young woman, typically adorned in samurai armor and a nobleman's hat, her light brown hair often tied in a messy ponytail. As a commander, she maintained strict discipline and seriousness; her gender held no bearing on her authority or battlefield effectiveness. Raikou formed close bonds with vassals like Kintoki and Tsunayoshi, grieving deeply over Tsunayoshi's death despite understanding its merciful intent.

Her combat centered on swordsmanship, employing specially forged tachi effective against Oni. The Kumokirimaru sword resisted her use due to its connection to Getter Alloy, a limitation Ryoma Nagare later overcame. Her most significant weapon was the legendary Dojikirimaru, capable of destroying Seimei's impenetrable barrier when used in a ritual suicide act.

Key events with the Getter Team began when she encountered Ryoma Nagare after he decapitated the infected Tsunayoshi. Mistaking Ryoma for an Oni, she imprisoned him, though he escaped. After witnessing his combat skills during an Oni attack and his ability to unleash the Kumokirimaru's full power, she allied with him. Their cooperation led to a joint assault on Seimei's palace. Seimei's barrier repelled all attacks until Raikou recovered the lost Dojikirimaru. To reactivate its power, she committed seppuku, sacrificing her life to shatter the barrier and enable Getter Robo's victory over Seimei's Oni form.
