Description
Nao Inabe is a university literature freshman working part-time at a family restaurant, where she serves as a senior colleague to Akina Myodo. She trains at a professional facility to become a Vanguard fighter. Her competitive journey started in childhood; though skilled, her experimentation with unconventional cards or unlucky hands sometimes caused losses. Years before the main events, she attended a summer camp with Akina, Hikari Myodo, Suo Yobitsugi, Kuon Aikawa, Mikoto Saito, and Taizo Kiyokura. During this camp, she helped rescue Hikari after she wandered off, unintentionally acquiring Sybilt's card, which caused her to forget details about the other attendees.

Nao possesses long pink hair fading to purple at the tips, typically styled with the right side hanging forward. She commonly wears a red Chinese-style jacket exposing her midriff over a black crop top, paired with black booty shorts, boots, and a tassel earring on her left ear. When possessed by Sybilt in Divinez Season 2, her appearance darkened, featuring intensified eyes and a red and black color scheme. After Sybilt's defeat, she returned to her original look.

Personality-wise, Nao is caring and straightforward, making her well-liked, though often clumsy in daily tasks. She enjoys quoting literary works or card flavor texts and has a notable fondness for mayonnaise. Under high-stakes competitive pressure, she can become nervous but maintains resilience towards her professional goals. Her teaching inclinations surface when mentoring Akina in restaurant duties and Vanguard basics. A key development involved learning to balance her competitive drive with enjoying the game, solidified during her Fated Clash match against Akina.

Her Vanguard career progressed through several phases. Initially, she used a Keter Sanctuary deck centered on "Hexa Orb Sorceress" in tournaments. Later, she adopted Dragon Empire decks, first with "Roaring Thunder Dragon, Triumph Dragon" during a teaching match with Akina. For the Fated Clash, she wielded "Fated One of Unparalleled, Varga Dragres," enabling multiple attacks by retiring front-row rear-guards and activating a Divine Skill for a third attack under specific damage conditions. During Sybilt's possession, her deck and style reflected the entity's influence. After being freed, she retained "Unparalleled Drekasleif, Varga Dragres 'Rakshasa'"—a Sybilt-influenced form—after Varga Dragres encouraged its use in a dream. In the 3rd Deluxe Tournament, she employed this card in Group A, defeating Erika Myojo but losing to Gui, Kagetsu Yakumo, and Mirei Minae.

Key relationships define her interactions. With Akina, she acts as a mentor and friend, teaching him Vanguard and restaurant tasks; their connection traces back to the summer camp, where she unknowingly gave him his recurring phrase about "miracles descending on those who reach out." Their duel in the Fated Clash ended in her graceful defeat, reinforcing her sportsmanship. She shares a long-standing rivalry with Senka Kanae, who noted Nao's early tournament inconsistencies. Interactions with Kagetsu Yakumo hint at unspoken romantic tension, particularly when questioned about Akina.

Her development spans multiple arcs. In Divinez Season 1, she entered the Fated Clash to achieve her professional dream but lost to Akina, accepting the outcome gracefully. Season 2 saw her possessed by Sybilt, during which she remained faintly aware and hoped for Akina's rescue. After liberation, she grappled with using the Sybilt-influenced "Rakshasa" card but resolved to harness its power for growth. By the DELUXE Arc, she achieved professional status, competing in high-level tournaments and leveraging past hardships to advance her skills, transitioning from a pressured aspirant to a pro embracing challenges.
