Mikan Irako, often referred to as Mikan-chan, is a student aboard the destroyer Harekaze in the anime High School Fleet. She hails from Sodegaura, Chiba Prefecture, and was born on February 14, making her an Aquarius with blood type O and a height of 151 centimeters. Within the ship's crew, she serves multiple roles: mess management specialist, weapon officer, boatswain’s mate, and cooking committee member, effectively heading the ship's mess hall. In this capacity, she is responsible for preparing meals for the crew, taking great pride in her cooking. She can master Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes as long as she has a recipe to follow, and her favorite cuisine is Italian, while she dislikes cup ramen. However, her meticulous attention to detail often causes her to take a very long time to finish preparing food. Her dedication to quality is driven by a strong sense of pride and a competitive streak, and she is known for being stubborn when it comes to her culinary standards. Despite this, she is also described as reliable, calm, and quick-thinking, with a composed demeanor that makes her a trusted voice among the crew. She works closely with the Kinesaki twins, Homare and Akane, who assist her in the kitchen, helping to produce meals that boost the crew's morale during difficult situations. Her academic strengths lie in home economics, while national language is her weakest subject. Outside of her duties, she enjoys photography and watching drama shows.
