Description
Nanao Inusaka is a human female of slight stature with medium-length burgundy hair and dark, solemn eyes. Her attire mirrors a Shinto monk’s garb, complete with a kitsune mask, a trailing tail accessory, and elevated tengu geta sandals. A neck ring matching her companion Shiro Inukai’s rests against her collar. During leisure moments, she swaps her monastic wear for a yukata adorned with a voluminous hair ribbon.

Marked by aloofness and a perpetually somber air, Nanao executes missions with cold precision, driven by the singular goal of hastening her return home. Her battlefield ruthlessness occasionally cracks to reveal flickers of empathy, such as her pained regret over Musashi’s manipulation at Shiro’s command. Unshakable loyalty binds her to Shiro, rooted in a childhood debt: when an Oni assault left her mortally wounded, he forfeited his own healing to secure the Obsidian Goddess’s aid for her. This sacrifice forged her devotion, persisting even as Shiro succumbed to a blackened heart. Together, they now serve the Obsidian Eight, guarding Kishin and thwarting Bushi efforts to claim the goddess.

In the Daito Mine conflict, Nanao wields her Khakkhara-inspired Kitetsu Blade, the "Seven-Belled Armadillo Sword"—a staff that fractures into a seven-segment whip. Though she initially overwhelms Musashi’s allies with techniques like the spinning blade assault Ressatsu Guruma, the skirmish damages her weapon irreparably. Retreat follows the Obsidian Goddess’s abrupt intervention, leaving Nanao to grapple with lingering guilt over deceiving the kind-hearted Musashi.

Her combat prowess hinges on meticulous control of the segmented blade, complemented by an enigmatic "Green Sword Soul" ability. Etymology echoes her essence: her name intertwines "seven" and "thread," while her surname fuses "dog" and "slope"—a silent nod to bonds that anchor her existence.
