Shinohara-san is a young woman whose accidental entry into Komatsu-san's glassblowing workshop, mistaking it for a cafe, creates an initial awkwardness. She becomes the focus of unspoken romantic interest from both Komatsu-san and his friend Ushikou-san, though she remains unaware and regards them only as friends. Komatsu-san's attention toward her provokes persistent jealousy in his pet dog Muco, who sees Shinohara-san as a rival. Despite Muco's visible hostility, Shinohara-san maintains a consistently kind, soft-spoken, and patient demeanor, actively trying to foster a better relationship with the dog.

She has a younger brother, the shy teenager Tamaki, who later becomes Komatsu-san's glassblowing apprentice. Tamaki's initial fear of dogs complicates his interactions with Muco.
