Description
Hailing from the alchemically famed underground realm of Stoke, Rirove Rakels serves as the purple Sword Eyes of Darkness. His striking appearance features long black hair, purple eyes, and ornate purple and yellow robes adorned with a red shoulder cloth and skull necklace; he often carries a rose. Rirove exhibits pronounced narcissism and an obsessive aversion to imperfection, driving him to destroy anything he deems flawed. This disposition fuels his avoidance of crowds and rejection of group affiliations like Yaiba's forces, despite shared objectives. He maintains a composed demeanor, though battles sometimes unleash a more deranged side.

Using advanced alchemy, Rirove attempted to resurrect his deceased brother, resulting in the homunculus Suou. Deeming this creation a flawed "doll of bones," he relentlessly pursued its destruction. This quest brought him into conflict with allies of the Sword Eyes of Light: he defeated Kizakura using his X-rare card "The BlackCorpseEmperor Baldanders" but lost to Sora. He remained unwavering in his intent even during direct encounters with Suou. His quest intersected with broader conflicts when he targeted Hayatemaru, the giant bird companion of the green Sword Eyes Hagakure, for alchemical use. Though he defeated Hagakure, he claimed only one feather, later discovering and removing a tracker placed by Garudos.

Forced into servitude under Yaiba after a duel loss, Rirove operated within the Atlantia capital while preserving personal autonomy. He declined leadership of the purple army, desiring only unrestricted movement and the Sword of Judgment. Discovering Tsurugi in Stoke under Garudos's direction, he battled the new Sword Eyes of Darkness, warning Tsurugi about darkness's corruption before losing the match.

His relentless pursuit of Suou led all three into the Green Deity Sacred Tree alongside Hagakure. There, he accepted Hagakure's challenge to cease his hunt if defeated. Losing this duel coincided with visible physical deterioration. As his condition worsened, Suou sacrificed his own soul to save Rirove, resulting in Suou's death. Rirove's tears unexpectedly resurrected the original Suou, who initially expressed hatred. Following Tsurugi's intervention, Suou acknowledged his true affection, reuniting the brothers. During the Sword of Judgment summoning ritual, Rirove battled Suou again and accepted his loss without resentment.

In the series' climax, he collaborated with Yaiba in Stoke, employing alchemy to summon spirits and prevent the Iron Hammer of God's catastrophic impact. After this effort, he assisted in evacuating Stoke's citizens, ultimately returning to his homeland to continue studying alchemy.

Rirove employs a purple-aligned deck specializing in rush tactics, featuring key cards like "The BlackCorpseEmperor Baldanders" and "The Criminal's SkullBlade Executioners." His battle record includes victories over Kizakura and Hagakure, and defeats against Sora, Yaiba, Tsurugi, and Suou. His relationships are largely transactional or adversarial, particularly with Suou until their reconciliation; he engages neutrally across factions, consistently rejecting alliances due to his solitary nature.
