Description
Miyuki Hoshizora is the protagonist of the 2012 anime series Smile PreCure, and she also appears as a key member of the crossover cast in the film Precure All Stars New Stage 2: Kokoro no Tomodachi. She is a fourteen-year-old second-year transfer student at Nanairogaoka Middle School. She has dark magenta hair and magenta eyes, and her name reflects her character, with Hoshizora meaning starry sky and Miyuki meaning happiness. Her most defining trait is her cheerful and optimistic nature, always striving to maintain a positive outlook and frequently exclaiming her catchphrase Ultra Happy. She is deeply passionate about fairy tales and folklore, which often influences her imaginative and slightly childish perspective on the world. Despite her sunny exterior, she was once more reserved and isolated before the events of her series, and she retains a sensitive and vulnerable side that makes her empathetic and kind toward others. She can also be clumsy and is not particularly studious, sometimes struggling to arrive on time to school.

Miyukis primary motivation is to protect others and spread happiness. She values friendship deeply and believes that joy and hope can overcome even the darkest situations. As a Pretty Cure, she transforms into Cure Happy, the leader of the Smile PreCure team. In this form, she wields powers based on holy light and sparkles. Her signature attack is the Happy Shower, a powerful beam of light, and she possesses enhanced leaping abilities that allow her to move with remarkable agility. Her transformation item is the Smile Pact, granted to her by the fairy Candy, a messenger from the magical realm of Märchenland.

In the story of Precure All Stars New Stage 2: Kokoro no Tomodachi, Miyuki and her fellow Pretty Cure teams receive an invitation to a party held in their honor at a school for fairies. When a mysterious shadow entity threatens the academy and steals the Cures transformation items, Miyuki and the Smile team are among those who fall victim to the shadow's scheme. During this crisis, she demonstrates her compassionate and forgiving nature when she encounters the timid fairy Enen, who had been manipulated by the shadow. Instead of showing anger, she forgives him and asks him to seek help from the Doki Doki PreCure team, entrusting him with a crucial mission even as she herself is crystallized and imprisoned. This moment highlights her selflessness and her unwavering belief in the goodness of others. Later, after being freed along with the other Cures, she joins the combined force of thirty-two Pretty Cures to defeat the shadow and restore peace to the fairy world.

Miyukis key relationships are central to her growth. She shares a close bond with her Smile PreCure teammates, Akane Hino, Yayoi Kise, Nao Midorikawa, and Reika Aoki, who together form a tight-knit group that supports one another. Her connection to the fairy Candy is also vital, as Candy is both her guide and a dear friend. Within the crossover film, she interacts with members of the Doki Doki PreCure team, particularly Mana Aida, and with the fairies Enen and Grell, showing her ability to inspire trust even in those who have made mistakes. Her role in the film is not only as a fighter but also as a source of emotional strength, using her positivity to encourage those around her.

Over the course of her own series and her appearances in the All Stars films, Miyuki develops from a somewhat awkward and insecure girl into a bold and courageous leader. She learns to channel her sensitivity into strength and becomes more open and expressive about her feelings. In Precure All Stars New Stage 2, her arc reinforces her growth by showing that she can remain hopeful and forgiving even when faced with betrayal and danger, ultimately helping to unite the Cures and the fairies against a common threat. Her notable abilities as Cure Happy, combined with her uplifting spirit, make her an indispensable member of any team she leads.
