Description
Mā is the main protagonist of the anime Ultraman Kids: M7.8 Sei no Yukai na Nakama. He is the child version of Ultraman from Planet M7.8, a young Ultra being who lives on a small planet in the M7.8 nebula alongside other child characters. Mā is portrayed as a cheerful and energetic boy, curious about the world around him and always ready for adventure. He has a playful and friendly nature, often taking part in games and activities with his classmates, but he also shows a caring and protective side, especially when someone new or vulnerable arrives on his planet.
Mā is motivated by a strong sense of friendship and loyalty. In the story, when a lost creature named Midori is accidentally left behind on Planet M7.8 by the space merchant Majara, Mā is among the first to befriend her. He helps Midori feel welcomed and safe, demonstrating his open-hearted and inclusive personality. His actions are driven by a desire to help others and to make sure everyone feels like they belong.
In the narrative, Mā serves as the central figure around whom much of the action revolves. He leads his group of friends in their daily lives and in the events that unfold after Midori’s arrival. His role is that of a youthful leader who, despite being a child, takes initiative and shows responsibility toward his companions.
Mā’s key relationships include his close friends among the other children of Planet M7.8, such as Pico, Piguko, Bal, and others. He interacts with the older or more experienced characters from time to time, but his strongest bonds are with his peers, with whom he shares adventures and mischief. His relationship with Midori is especially important, as it highlights his capacity for kindness and his ability to form new friendships quickly.
Over the course of the story, Mā does not undergo a dramatic transformation, but he shows a quiet development in his understanding of friendship and responsibility. Through his interactions with Midori and his friends, he learns more about trust, empathy, and the value of standing by those who need help.
Among Mā’s notable abilities are those typical of an Ultra being from the Ultraman universe. He possesses superhuman strength and the ability to use Ultra Beam attacks, though, as a child, his control over these powers is still developing. His beams may not always hit their intended target, reflecting his inexperience. He also has the capacity to grow to a larger size, a classic trait of Ultraman characters, which he can use when facing challenges that require more power. These abilities are presented in a lighthearted and age-appropriate way, consistent with the playful tone of the series.
