Kyoko Yamada

Kyoko Yamada, later known professionally as Fushigi Yamada, is a Japanese voice actor and science writer born on November 11, 1959, in Tokyo, Japan. She began her career in the 1980s under her birth name, Kyoko Yamada, before adopting the stage name Fushigi Yamada. She is affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce.
Yamada's early career featured a number of prominent roles in anime series from the late 1980s. In the Transformers franchise, she voiced the characters Browning and a parrot in the 1988 series Transformers: Super God Masterforce. She was also heavily involved in various Ultraman Kids productions, providing voices for the character Maa (also styled as Mā) in multiple entries, including the 1986 television series Ultraman Kids no Kotowaza Monogatari, the 1989 television series Ultraman Kids: M7.8 Sei no Yukai na Nakama, and the 1991 series Ultraman Kids: Haha o Tazunete 3000 Man Kōnen. Her work in the Ultraman franchise also includes voicing Andy in the 1987 film Ultraman: The Adventure Begins.
In addition to her voice acting, Yamada contributed theme song performances for some of these early projects, such as singing the opening and ending themes for the Ultraman Kids: M7.8 Sei no Yukai na Nakama movie.
Throughout her long career, Yamada has taken on a wide variety of roles across numerous popular anime series. One of her most recognized performances is as Masato, known as Max in English adaptations, in the long-running Pokémon franchise, appearing in the Pokémon Advance television series and several films from 2002 to 2006. Other notable credits include roles in Doraemon (including the 2005 series and multiple films), Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken as Miina, Kiteretsu Daihyakka, and the game adaptation of S-CRY-ed as Akira Terada. She has also voiced the character Piposaru in the Ape Escape anime and the character和田咚 (Wada Don) in the Taiko no Tatsujin game series.
Beyond her voice acting work, Yamada is notable for her parallel career as a science writer, having published several books on scientific experiments and space, which reflects a personal interest in science. She is a graduate of the Tokyo University of Science.
