OVA
Description
Takako Kawashima first appears waiting at a street corner, instantly captivating Kiichi Miyazawa with her beauty. When he asks her out, she rejects him bluntly. Three larger girls confront her, seeking a fight. Despite their size advantage, Takako defeats them using karate: dodging an initial punch to strike the first attacker’s face, then kicking the neck and face of another approaching from behind. As the confrontation escalates with a knife-wielding assailant, Kiichi intervenes and sustains claw marks blocking the blade. Afterward, Takako bandages his wounds and introduces herself.

She exhibits an upbeat, energetic personality and favors boyish attire like short-sleeved shirts and shorts, with short blonde hair framing her ears. She shares a romantic bond with Mitsuhide Kuroda, who arrives during her encounter with Kiichi. Mitsuhide recognizes Kiichi’s Nadashinkage-ryuu martial arts style, sparking tension as they gauge each other’s strength through a handshake. Takako defuses the standoff by leaving with Mitsuhide. Later, she pleads with him to avoid fighting Kiichi, revealing her protective concern.

Her past intertwines with Mitsuhide’s. She discloses to Kiichi that Mitsuhide accidentally killed his friend during a tournament—an event haunting him. Though Takako tries to dissuade Kiichi from challenging Mitsuhide, this revelation only strengthens Kiichi’s resolve. Takako witnesses their duel at Masakazu Naruse’s burial site. Attempting to stop the fight, she is told by Kiichi not to interfere. After Mitsuhide collapses from a heart-stopping blow, Takako rushes to him. Revived, he receives her embrace. Kiichi returns her bandage, and Takako appreciates his philosophical reflection on Nadashinkage-ryuu, though he credits his father’s wisdom.

Takako balances assertiveness with compassion, contrasting her blunt rejection of Kiichi with her later kindness in treating his injury. She shows sisterly affection toward Kiichi while remaining devoted to Mitsuhide. Her karate skills, though peripheral to the broader Nadashinkage-ryuu conflict, establish her combat proficiency.
