Description
Towa Akagi, known as Princess Hope Delight Towa in her homeland, hails from Hope Kingdom as Prince Kanata's younger sister. As a child, she admired Kanata and shared violin duets with him. Her aspiration to become a Grand Princess—a title exclusive to Princess Pretty Cures—made her susceptible to manipulation by the witch Dyspear. Dyspear lured her into the Forest of Despair, erased her memories, and brainwashed her into believing she was Dyspear's daughter, triggering Hope Kingdom's collapse into despair and enabling Dyspear's revival.
Under Dyspear's control, she transformed into Twilight, Dys Dark's second-in-command. As Twilight, she displayed cold ruthlessness, dismissing dreams as "pitiful illusions" and deriding the Pretty Cures as "fake princesses." She wielded black Dress Up Keys to amplify Zetsuborgs summoned by Dys Dark generals. Her appearance featured silver hair, red eye makeup, and a dark butterfly-motif dress with winglike designs. Dyspear later evolved her into Black Princess using a Black Dress Up Key, enhancing her powers into a dark Pretty Cure-like form.
A pivotal intervention by the Pretty Cures and Kanata's violin music purified her, shattering Dyspear's control. She reverted to Towa but retained no memories of her time as Twilight. Restored to her true self, she exhibited naivety and social awkwardness from royal isolation, struggling with mundane tasks like shopping or casual interactions. Yet her innate kindness, courage, and loyalty resurged. She retained deep admiration for Kanata and forged strong friendships, particularly with Haruka Haruno (Cure Flora), who reignited her belief in dreams. Her trauma also left her perceptive to deceit.
Reclaiming her dream, she joined as the fourth Princess Pretty Cure: Cure Scarlet, the "Princess of the Crimson Fire." Her transformation granted light pink hair with a magenta ombre, feathery wings behind her ears, a gold tiara, and a flame-themed costume in red and gold. Her fire-based attacks utilized Dress Up Keys: Scarlet, Phoenix, Sun, and Hanabi. She fought alongside Cure Flora, Cure Mermaid, and Cure Twinkle, bonding closely with her teammates—including her roommate Kirara (Cure Twinkle), despite initial lifestyle clashes.
In the crossover film *Eiga Precure All Stars: Minna de Utau♪ Kiseki no Mahō!*, she appeared as Cure Scarlet with the Go! Princess Pretty Cure team. She briefly battled Dyspear—reawakened via Haruka's memories by the witch Solcière—before joining all Cures to thwart Solcière and Trauuma's scheme to weaponize the Cures' tears for dark magic, cementing her role in the wider Pretty Cure alliance.
Her journey culminated in her coronation as Queen of Hope Kingdom, achieving her childhood ambition. As an adult, she donned regal white and red gowns and a jeweled tiara, embodying her evolution from a manipulated child to a sovereign devoted to her realm.
