Description
Niina Miyamoto is the female protagonist of the manga series Now That We Draw. She is a high school student and a popular, extroverted classmate of Yuuki Uehara. Outwardly she presents herself as a bubbly and gorgeous gal, but she secretly harbors a serious ambition to become a professional manga artist. After her own romantic comedy manuscript is rejected by an editor for lacking realism, she encounters Uehara, who has received the same criticism for his work. Recognizing their shared predicament and inexperience with real romance, Niina proposes that they enter a fake relationship. Her motivation is to gather authentic material and experiences to improve the quality of her manga, believing that only by living through romantic situations can she draw them convincingly.
Niina’s personality is bold, confident, and often uninhibited. She has little sense of personal space and frequently initiates physical closeness with Uehara, sometimes without realizing the awkwardness it causes. Despite her outgoing demeanor, she is far from the idealized, demure heroine Uehara originally imagined for his own story. She can be mischievous and playful, and she is not afraid to take the lead in the pretend romance. Her approach to the fake relationship is practical and research‑driven at first, but as the story progresses, her genuine feelings begin to surface, leading to personal growth and a deeper emotional connection with Uehara.
Her role in the story is central: she is the catalyst that pushes Uehara out of his despair and into a collaborative, albeit unconventional, creative partnership. Together, they navigate the blurred lines between fiction and reality, learning about love, creativity, and themselves. Her key relationship is with Uehara, and their dynamic evolves from a transactional arrangement to a sincere bond. Along the way, she also interacts with other classmates and fellow artists, but the core of her development revolves around how her fake romance reshapes her understanding of both manga and her own heart. Notable abilities include her talent for drawing manga, her perceptive nature when it comes to storytelling (even if she initially lacks real‑life romantic experience), and her fearless willingness to step outside her comfort zone to achieve her artistic goals.
