Description
Taisei Yoshida is a student in Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School, recognizable by his sharp eyes and dark hair styled into dreadlocks. His appearance, along with his association with Ryoma Terasaka, initially leads others to perceive him as a delinquent. However, this rough and rebellious demeanor is not a true reflection of his nature; beneath the surface, he possesses a timid and more gentle side.
Yoshida comes from a family that runs a motorcycle shop, and he has a deep, genuine passion for motorcycles, spending time riding on his family's property and at circuits. This mechanical interest extends to his academic life, where he excels in technology and science, although he struggles significantly with English. His long-term motivation is to eventually inherit the family business and revolutionize motorcycle culture through his own custom innovations.
Initially, Yoshida shared the hostile attitude of the Terasaka group towards their teacher, Koro-sensei, and participated in schemes to disrupt the class, such as the destruction of the E-class pool. His perspective began to change when he discovered a shared love of motorcycles with Koro-sensei, leading to an unexpected friendship that diminished his rebelliousness. This bond contributed to his personal development, helping him reconcile with his own group after a temporary falling out with Terasaka and fostering a growing appreciation for the unique qualities of his other classmates, such as respecting Koki Mimura's hidden dedication and energy.
Within the story, Yoshida primarily operates as a key member of the Terasaka group, alongside Takuya Muramatsu, often working together as a shocktrooper in close-combat situations. Their teamwork is described as inseparable, frequently undertaking high-risk operations together. He also forms a partnership with Itona Horibe as part of the class's technology squad, combining his structural expertise with Itona's knowledge of circuitry. Outside of his main friend group, he shares a childhood friendship with Sumire Hara, as their mothers are close, and he is noted for speaking with a noticeably softer, gentler voice only to Yukiko Kanzaki, for whom he harbors feelings. His classmates, such as Kirara Hazama, have observed this change in his demeanor.
In terms of abilities, Yoshida is a skilled mechanic and is knowledgeable about vehicle engineering. His assassination training focuses on close combat, where he leverages his physical strength for high-speed tackles and acts as a human bullet. Karasuma, their P.E. teacher, rates his execution and technical skills with traps and weapons highly, noting his exceptional situational awareness. While his planning and leadership are less developed, his collaborative spirit and willingness to absorb damage for a tactical advantage make him an effective team member in offensive operations. Following the events of the school year, Yoshida goes on to study business administration before ultimately taking over the management of his family's motorcycle shop.
