Description
Yugel is a character from the Shikaku segment of the anime anthology series Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26, which adapts the early short stories of the creator. Yugel is a vampire who has existed for an extraordinarily long time, having lived for 3,500 years. This immense lifespan has led him to a state of profound weariness and boredom with his existence. His central motivation is to find a way to end his life, which he finds dull and no longer worth living.

In the story, Yugel takes on the role of a client, hiring a young and infamous female assassin known as Shikaku to kill him. This request forms the core of his relationship with Shikaku, as he tasks her with carrying out a hit on the one target she cannot seem to eliminate. His inability to be killed is a key aspect of his character, presenting the central conflict for the assassin he has employed. The narrative, which has been described as a twisted love story, follows how this unusual professional relationship evolves. The story explores the developing connection between the world-weary vampire and the hitman who cannot fulfill his wish, leading to unexpected emotional consequences for both. His most notable ability, implied by his unfulfilled request, is his apparent immortality or invulnerability to conventional methods of death, as even a professional assassin like Shikaku is unable to grant his wish for mortality.
