Description
Suguru Geto is a central figure in the Jujutsu Kaisen narrative, originally introduced as a special grade jujutsu sorcerer and a classmate of Satoru Gojo at Tokyo Jujutsu High. His story is one of profound tragedy, following his descent from a dedicated protector of the non-sorcerer populace to a genocidal curse user who sought to eradicate all non-sorcerers, whom he derogatorily referred to as monkeys. Born on February 3, 1990, into a family of non-sorcerers, Geto was considered a prodigy who reached his level of power through immense hard work, in contrast to Gojo's natural-born genius.

As a student, Geto was characterized by his kindness, strong sense of justice, and a calm, collected demeanor that masked an internal struggle. He often acted as a moral compass for the arrogant Gojo, firmly believing that the duty of a jujutsu sorcerer was to protect the weak. This idealistic worldview was systematically dismantled after a series of traumatic events. The first major blow was the assassination of the Star Plasma Vessel, Riko Amanai, by the assassin Toji Fushiguro, an event that happened right in front of him. Shortly after, Geto witnessed members of a religious cult celebrating Riko's death, which ignited a deep-seated hatred for non-sorcerers within him. This hatred festered as he continued to risk his life for people he began to see as ungrateful and inferior.

The final breaking point occurred when Geto was sent to a non-sorcerer village that had imprisoned two young girls with cursed abilities, Mimiko and Nanako, and was torturing them. In a moment of radical resolution, Geto massacred all 112 villagers, including his own parents, to save the two girls. After this incident, he was expelled from Jujutsu High and became known as the worst of all curse users. He subsequently took control of a religious organization and adopted the guise of a Buddhist monk, a stark irony meant to represent his perceived righteousness and deceptive nature. His ultimate motivation became to create a world consisting solely of jujutsu sorcerers, believing that exterminating all non-sorcerers was the only way to break the cycle of suffering and eliminate the source of cursed spirits.

Geto's role in the story is twofold. In the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, he serves as the main antagonist, orchestrating the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, a large-scale attack on Shinjuku and Kyoto, in an attempt to steal the cursed spirit Rika Orimoto from the protagonist, Yuta Okkotsu. During the battle, he is severely wounded by Yuta and later found and killed by his best friend, Satoru Gojo, at his own request. In the main series, his corpse is taken over by an ancient sorcerer named Kenjaku, who uses Geto's body and his powerful Cursed Spirit Manipulation technique to enact his own plans for the evolution of humanity, most notably during the Shibuya Incident.

The most pivotal relationship in Geto's life is with Satoru Gojo. They were inseparable best friends who considered each other the strongest and pushed one another to greater heights. Their shared trauma and subsequent philosophical divergence created an irreparable rift, turning them into tragic adversaries. Geto also held a twisted sense of care for his followers, fellow curse users like Mimiko and Nanako, whom he considered his family, showing kindness to sorcerers while retaining his genocidal hatred for non-sorcerers. His brief conversation with the special grade sorcerer Yuki Tsukumo, who presented him with extreme options for dealing with curses, also served to cement his radical new path.

Geto's character development is a classic tragic fall from grace. He begins as an empathetic and righteous hero, only to have his faith in humanity systematically destroyed by the cruel realities of the jujutsu world, transforming him into a ruthless, charismatic, and cunning villain. Even after his death, his ideology and physical form continue to haunt the narrative through the machinations of Kenjaku. In his final moments, Geto expressed no hatred for his former comrades and admitted he could never find true happiness in the world as it was, cementing his legacy as a deeply complex and sorrowful antagonist.

Geto possesses a unique and immensely powerful innate technique known as Cursed Spirit Manipulation. This ability allows him to exorcise and then absorb a cursed spirit into a black orb, which he must swallow. Once consumed, he gains total control over the spirit and can summon it at will to fight for him. He can store and manipulate thousands of cursed spirits simultaneously, with his arsenal containing over four thousand at the time of his death. This effectively gives him his own army, allowing him to overwhelm opponents with sheer numbers and a vast variety of techniques. In addition to his technique, Geto is also highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat and possesses superior physical strength, making him a formidable fighter even without his curses. His ultimate attack is Maximum: Uzumaki, which he uses by compressing all the cursed spirits in his control into a single, concentrated beam of immense power capable of devastating anything in its path.
