Description
Zeno operates as a second-generation member of the interstellar defense force ARKS. His closest bond is with Echo, a childhood friend and partner, yet their dynamic consistently sparks friction despite underlying mutual concern. Initially sociable and duty-driven, he readily mentors recruits like the protagonist but lacks ambition to maximize his combat potential—a stance that shifts dramatically after critical events.

During Elder’s assault in Episode 1, Zeno directly confronts the entity so Echo and the protagonist can escape with Melrandia. Presumed missing in action, he resurfaces during Xiao’s time-travel intervention, discovered barely alive after his prolonged duel against Elder. The protagonist, Maria, and Sarah extract him, marking a pivotal turning point.

Fueled by this second chance, Zeno trains rigorously under Maria—an ARKS founder and Council of Six member—undergoing significant growth. He reverts from Hunter to his original Ranger class, integrating close-combat techniques into his repertoire. This culminates in him claiming the Council of Six’s vacant fourth seat, joining ARKS’ apex leadership.

As a Council member, Zeno wields the Abyss authority, enforcing absolute commands over ARKS personnel unless countermanded by equal authority. His signature weapon, the Cosmogenic Arm Nanaki the Vigilant, shifts between sword and gun modes for versatile combat but risks memory degradation with prolonged use. His combat prowess now enables brief solo engagements against the Apprentice.

In the anime, Zeno rescues recruits Ash and Afin during their first mission, sniping an El Ahda’s core to demonstrate protective instincts. He later defends the ARKS ship Themis against Falspawn and confronts Gettemhult during Matoi’s kidnapping on Naverius. Ordering Ash and Echo to retreat with Matoi and Melfonseana, he stalls the revived Dark Falz Elder alone—an act that prolongs his disappearance until the time-travel rescue.

After his promotion to the Council of Six, Zeno trains covertly under Maria. Post-Episode 3 ARKS reorganization appoints him vice-commander of the Training Bureau under Regius, continuing his role in developing new operatives.
