Description
Quna maintains two identities: a charismatic, popular idol who boosts ARKS morale through concerts and propaganda, and a covert assassin conducting intelligence gathering and eliminating threats. Her idol role facilitates movement between Oracle ships for information collection. On missions, she becomes "Zelsius Quna," a Twin Dagger specialist within the elite "Death Squad," eradicating Darkers (known as Falspawn in some regions) and assassinating targets deemed dangerous to ARKS. This double life sometimes blurs her sense of self, with her shadow operative experiences initially fostering emotional detachment and self-centeredness, caring only for herself and her friend Haddred.
Her past involves ARKS' covert history. She and Haddred grew up together in a facility, implied to be part of ARKS experimentation. When scientists targeted Quna for procedures, Haddred intervened and underwent them instead. The experiments caused him to lose control, transform into a rampaging dragon, and destroy the facility to protect Quna. Unaware of his motives, ARKS falsified reports labeling Haddred a traitor and assigned Quna to eliminate him. She later discovered the truth: his rampage stemmed from the experiments and his desire to shield her. With the protagonist's aid, she confronted and ended Haddred's suffering, an act she deeply regretted but saw as necessary to free him. This became a pivotal moment, fostering a sense of debt toward the protagonist.
After Haddred's death, Quna gradually opened up emotionally, developing genuine concern for the protagonist and forming connections with others. In Episode 2, she used her ARKS connections to investigate matters at the protagonist's request. During the climax, she collaborated with Council of Six member Casra to hack the Central Research Department, exposing Luther's manipulation of ARKS and his use of Code ABYSS to brainwash key figures, including Regius. This exposure turned the Three Heroes against Luther. She later joined the protagonist's team at the Mothership's core to battle Falz Angel.
In Episode 4, she was appointed Vice-Commander of the Intelligence Division under Casra, a role she disliked due to the confinement to desk duties aboard an ARKS ship alongside her idol activities.
Within the anime *Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle*, her history with Haddred received expanded focus. She was depicted observing Ash and Matoi on Naverius under Luther's orders, later encountering Ash directly after he detected her cloaked presence. She carried out missions to eliminate ARKS members compromised by the F-Factor, showcasing her assassin role. Her interactions with Ash led her to revisit the ruined facility where she and Haddred were raised. An elderly scientist there revealed Quna was the intended subject of the experiments, causing her significant distress and anger. She subsequently confronted Haddred at their former meeting place, using their shared song to lure him, and fulfilled her mission to end his life with Ash's support.
Her combat centers on stealth, speed, and precision, earning her the secret "0th" seat on the Council of Six. She demonstrated capabilities like deflecting attacks from entities such as Dark Falz Luther. Her primary weapon is the Cosmogenic Arm "Invisible Blades Mai," twin arm blades granting invisibility at the cost of significant photon energy. Prolonged use of Mai depletes her photons, posing risks of severe health deterioration, reduced lifespan, or premature death, a consequence noted by another character, Aki.
