Description
Power is a Fiend and a Public Safety Devil Hunter who serves as a member of Makima's specialized squad in Tokyo Special Division 4. As a Fiend, Power is a devil who has taken possession of a human corpse, which in her case is the body of a young girl with long hair. This form gives her a mostly human appearance, though she is distinguished by short red horns protruding from her head and sharpened fangs, marking her clearly as something other than human. Her true origin is that of the Blood Devil, a powerful entity that instills fear related to blood. After being captured by Public Safety for unknown reasons, she was integrated into the devil hunting organization rather than being destroyed. Her name is derived from Powers, which are an order of angels in the Christian angelic hierarchy known as warrior angels that battle demons.

Power possesses a personality that is immediately striking in its chaos and immaturity. She is childish, greedy, rude, and overwhelmingly self-centered, acting as if the world and everyone in it exists for her benefit. She is unkempt and shameless about her lack of hygiene, freely admitting that she rarely bathes or flushes the toilet, and she believes that other people should clean up after her. Power is arrogant and often boasts about her superiority as a Fiend, frequently claiming she can do things that she actually cannot. She is a compulsive liar who quickly deflects blame onto others whenever she faces consequences, most commonly targeting her partner Denji. In combat, she loves violence and enjoys showing off her strength, but she has no sense of true bravery; she will abandon her comrades and flee from a fight the moment she realizes she is on the losing side. She is also tactless and has no problem gossiping about her friends or revealing their secrets to others.

Despite these overwhelmingly negative traits, Power is not without genuine attachments and a capacity for growth. Her most significant and unconditional love is reserved for her pet cat, Meowy. She originally found the cat and intended to fatten it up to eat it, but instead became deeply attached to her. She is willing to risk her life, betray others, and sacrifice anything to ensure Meowy's safety. This loyalty slowly begins to extend to the people around her as the story progresses. Through her experiences living and fighting alongside Denji and Aki Hayakawa, she comes to see them as her first true friends. She begins to show compassion and care for them, such as buying Denji a birthday cake and putting herself in danger to protect him. Her development reaches its peak when she refuses to sacrifice Denji to save herself, choosing instead to die for him. This demonstrates that beneath her selfish and feral exterior, Power is capable of profound loyalty and putting others before herself.

Power's primary motivation throughout most of the story is simple survival and the pursuit of her own immediate desires, such as drinking blood, fighting, and being praised. However, her deeper driving force becomes the protection of her found family: Meowy first, and then Denji and Aki. She continues to work as a Devil Hunter not out of any sense of duty to humanity, but because she is afraid of Makima and because she chooses to help Denji after he saved her cat. After a traumatic encounter with the Darkness Devil in Hell, Power develops severe post-traumatic stress, becoming terrified of being alone and overwhelmed by fear. This vulnerability forces her to rely on Denji and Aki for comfort and protection, further strengthening their bond as they care for her during her recovery.

In the story, Power serves as Denji's primary partner and a member of the main trio alongside Aki. She is introduced as a wild and unpredictable force, creating much of the series' early comedic chaos through her interactions with the more serious Aki and the equally crude Denji. Her role evolves from a selfish and unreliable ally into a genuine friend whose loss has a devastating impact on Denji. Her death at the hands of Makima is a pivotal moment, meant to break Denji's spirit. However, in her final act, she makes a contract with Denji, giving him her blood so he can survive and defeat Makima. In exchange, she asks him to find the reincarnated Blood Devil on Earth and become friends with her again, so they can be together once more. This promise becomes a long-term goal for Denji in the subsequent part of the story.

Power's key relationships are central to her character arc. Her bond with Denji is the most significant. They start with Power betraying him to a devil to save Meowy, but after he saves her anyway, they develop a strange, bickering, yet deeply loyal friendship. She considers him her first true friend. Her relationship with Aki Hayakawa resembles that of an annoying younger sister and a perpetually frustrated older brother; she delights in provoking him, but she is deeply saddened when he is lost. Her relationship with Meowy is her original and most consistent source of love, teaching her the value of another living creature. Finally, her relationship with Makima is one of fear and manipulation, as Makima controls her and ultimately sees her as a tool to be used against Denji.

As the Blood Fiend, Power possesses a range of notable abilities centered on blood manipulation. She can control her own blood, shaping it into weapons such as a massive hammer for crushing blows or a spear for stabbing. Through direct physical contact, she can also manipulate the blood of others, which allows her to stop their bleeding. If she mixes her own blood with a target's, she can disrupt their regenerative abilities. As a devil, she has enhanced strength and speed, making her a formidable physical fighter. She also has a highly enhanced sense of smell, capable of detecting blood from great distances. Like all devils, Power can replenish her health and stamina by consuming blood. When she consumes a large amount of blood or blood from a particularly powerful devil, her own power increases dramatically, causing her horns to grow larger and a second pair to emerge from her head. In her original form as the full Blood Devil, rather than the weakened Fiend she normally is, her power is far greater, allowing her to create thousands of blood swords and attack with devastating force. She also has the ability to transfer her blood and life force to another person through a contract, which is how she ultimately saves Denji's life at the cost of her own.
