Description
Chibi Ghidorah is a small, three-headed dragon kaiju who appears as a main character in the children's anime series Chibi Godzilla Raids Again. The character originated in the 2018 picture book Do Your Best, Chibi Godzilla before being adapted for the television series, which takes place on Monster Island where various chibi-style monsters reside.

In terms of appearance, Chibi Ghidorah is a simplified and cute version of the classic King Ghidorah design. The character is a bipedal, golden-yellow dragon possessing two wings, two tails, and three distinct heads, each adorned with white horns. The three heads are visually distinguishable from one another, with the middle head typically displaying a cheerful and friendly expression, while the left head often appears more sly or aggressive, and the right head may look relaxed or indifferent.

The most defining characteristic of Chibi Ghidorah is that each of the three heads possesses its own unique and often conflicting personality. The middle head is the most friendly and sociable of the three. It enjoys making new friends and is known for giving affectionate nicknames to others, such as calling Chibi Mechagodzilla Mego-yan. In contrast, the right head is consistently aggressive and quick to anger. This head frequently threatens violence, including deploying the character's gravity beams, and was initially unwilling to befriend Chibi Mechagodzilla. The left head presents a more complex personality; while outwardly appearing friendly and agreeable, it harbors a darker, more opportunistic side. This head is known to view friendships as potential business opportunities, openly acknowledging that friends can be exploited for money in a pinch.

These three personalities are in constant, comedic conflict with one another. The heads frequently bicker over decisions, resources, and food, often arguing about what the other heads have eaten due to concerns about gaining weight. However, despite their constant disagreements, they are capable of finding common ground and enjoy activities such as singing together, with each head contributing a different pitch to create a harmonious sound.

Throughout the series, Chibi Ghidorah plays the role of a quirky friend and fellow resident of Monster Island. The character is often seen participating in the various group activities and misadventures organized by Chibi Godzilla. In one notable early encounter, when Chibi Godzilla introduces the newly arrived Chibi Mechagodzilla to the three-headed monster, each head gives a different response to the friendship request, ranging from enthusiastic acceptance to aggressive refusal. Later, the heads begin quarreling over who gets to eat a found matsutake mushroom, though the friendly middle head insists on sharing one with their new acquaintance.

Chibi Ghidorah also takes part in a Monster Study Session led by Chibi Godzilla, where the three heads offer consistently incorrect and humorous answers to trivia questions about Godzilla. In another episode, Chibi Ghidorah joins Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Anguirus in destroying a model city that Chibi Mechagodzilla had built. While initially hesitant to continue after being told to stop, Chibi Ghidorah is easily convinced by Chibi Godzilla to resume the destruction, only to be knocked to the ground by Chibi Mechagodzilla's eye beams. The character also demonstrates a more supportive side, such as when comforting Chibi Mechagodzilla after Chibi Godzilla temporarily leaves the island, reassuring the worried robot that their friend could return at any moment. Additionally, Chibi Ghidorah has shown a willingness to help others, as seen when the character decides to assist Chibi Hedorah in cleaning trash from a beach.

Regarding notable abilities, Chibi Ghidorah possesses several powers derived from its larger counterpart. The character is capable of flight using its large wings. All three heads can fire lightning-like energy attacks known as gravity beams from their mouths, though these are often threatened rather than fully demonstrated. The heads also use their powerful jaws to bite down on targets, which in practice usually means biting each other during their frequent squabbles. In terms of durability, Chibi Ghidorah has survived being struck by Chibi Mechagodzilla's eye beams and has endured the bites inflicted during internal arguments, though these attacks do cause injury.

Over the course of the series, Chibi Ghidorah does not undergo significant personal development in the traditional sense, as the show's comedic and episodic nature prioritizes consistent character traits for humor. However, the character does display a degree of growth in its relationships with the other monsters, particularly with Chibi Mechagodzilla, moving from initial suspicion and threats to becoming a reliable, if still bickering, friend and companion in the various activities on Monster Island. The internal dynamic between the three heads remains consistently argumentative yet cooperative, with their shared enjoyment of singing serving as a recurring reminder of their fundamental unity despite their conflicting personalities.
