Description
Sam Ibrahim hails from oil-rich royalty, exiled alongside younger brother Clark Ibrahim for undisclosed reasons. Seeking new fortunes, they acquired the Pathfinder Air Race, which Sam owns. Together, they rigged races for Clark's victories, bribing opponents and sabotaging rivals. This included tampering with Lewis Mueller's plane, causing a crash that left Mueller permanently disabled.
Sam expresses overt misogyny, declaring air racing a "man's sport" and relegating women to domestic roles. He dismisses female professionals with insults, exemplified by his crude rejection of Cynthia Moore's alliance. His volatile temper erupts over setbacks; he threatens subordinates with death for minor errors. He views people like Mueller as disposable once their usefulness ends.
Targeted by Laurent Thierry's con during the Singapore Sky arc, Sam tests Makoto Edamura's engineering skills before hiring him as Clark's mechanic. Sam frequents an underground casino, betting heavily under a false identity. Manipulated into wagering against fixed outcomes, he suffers major losses. A final $25 million bet on Clark fails when Lewis Mueller pilots Abby's plane to victory. Enraged by the betrayal, Sam orders Abby killed and personally attempts to murder Makoto and Abby, who escape by parachute.
Sam reappears in the Wizard of Far East arc, joining an alliance orchestrated by Makoto. Alongside Eddie Cassano and James Coleman, he poses as an associate of human trafficker Akemi Suzaku during a staged confrontation and fake SWAT raid at Suzaku's building – later revealed as a constructed set on a deserted island. His specific motivations remain unstated, but his participation demonstrates pragmatic collaboration with former adversaries when interests align.
