ONA
Description
Gori holds the position of Marketing Director and is a supporting character in the narrative. Her design is based on a Western Lowland Gorilla, giving her a large physical build with gray fur across her body and dark gray skin on her face and ears. Her typical attire consists of a hot pink dress with matching shoes, accessorized with a yellow beaded necklace and earrings, though she also wears a hot pink t-shirt with teal shorts for yoga class.
Initially, Gori presents a very ladylike and confident exterior. However, this facade hides a more vulnerable nature, as she can be surprisingly shy in social situations, particularly when trying to make new friends. Once she becomes comfortable with someone, she reveals a much more excitable and emotional side to her personality. A significant part of her character is her strong desire to find a romantic partner; she tries very hard to make a good impression on men and to make relationships work. Unfortunately, her demanding career often interferes with these efforts, leading to repeated heartbreak. Beneath her intimidating appearance lies a sensitive heart, and she sometimes struggles to express what she is truly feeling.
Her primary motivation is to find a balance between her successful professional life and her personal aspirations for love and companionship. Her role in the story is largely that of a close friend and mentor figure to the main character, often providing support and advice while also dealing with her own romantic disappointments.
Gori is almost always seen alongside her best friend, Washimi. Their close bond is evident both in their professional lives, where they work closely together, and in their personal time, as they frequently go out for dinner and drinks, attend yoga class, and sing at karaoke. Their friendship is deep and resilient, able to withstand disagreements, such as a fight over their conflicting ideals about marriage, which they resolved with a rap battle. She also develops a significant friendship with Retsuko. While Retsuko was initially unsure of Gori, Gori was the first to try and befriend her at yoga class. They eventually become close, with Gori sometimes showing an overzealous side that can make Retsuko anxious. On one occasion, they discovered they both secretly attended a singles party. Additionally, she has a connection with the character Tadano, who helped her with the code for an app she was developing, and the two bonded over this project.
Gori shows development by navigating the complexities of adult friendship and the disappointment of unfulfilled romantic expectations, often learning to lean on her support network of friends. In terms of abilities, beyond her professional competence as a director, she is dedicated to physical fitness, regularly practicing yoga. She also demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit by working on creating a dating application.
