Description
Honami Mochizuki is a second-year student at Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy who serves as the drummer for the band Leo/need. She is an honor student who excels in both academics and sports, known for her kind and caring nature. Honami has a fair-skinned appearance with blue eyes and light dusty rose hair, which she typically wears in a side ponytail on the right side of her head, secured with a blue scrunchie. She is relatively tall for her age and possesses a fit but slim build.

Honami's personality is defined by her deep-seated kindness, though this trait has been a source of both strength and difficulty throughout her life. She is naturally inclined to help others, listen to their troubles, and treat everyone equally. However, this desire to support everyone without favoritism led to misunderstandings during her middle school years, as her classmates began to view her as two-faced or a people-pleaser who was merely trying to get on everyone's good side. This resulted in her being isolated and bullied. In an effort to protect her childhood friends from similar treatment, Honami distanced herself from them, leading to a painful period where she felt completely alone and even wished to disappear. This traumatic experience caused her personality to change dramatically. She became indecisive and fearful of expressing her true emotions, constantly worrying that others would reject her for them. She developed a habit of simply agreeing with everything to avoid conflict, losing her previous assertiveness and her clear concept of friendship.

Her background is deeply intertwined with her three childhood friends: Hoshino Ichika, Tenma Saki, and Hinomori Shiho. As children, the group shared a love for stargazing and playing music together, even dreaming of forming a band. When Saki was hospitalized during middle school, the strain caused Honami's relationships with Ichika and Shiho to fracture, a situation worsened by Honami's self-imposed isolation. The group slowly begins to reconcile after Saki returns to school and they discover the School SEKAI, ultimately reuniting to form Leo/need, a name inspired by the meteor shower they watched together as children.

Honami's role in the story is central to the narrative of Leo/need's reformation and her own personal growth. She is initially portrayed as someone struggling with her past trauma, but through her involvement with the band and the guidance of the Virtual Singer MEIKO, she learns that true kindness also requires courage and the ability to stand up for oneself. Over the course of various events, Honami gradually overcomes her fear of disagreements. She becomes more assertive, learning to voice her own opinions and even directly confronting her bandmate Shiho to encourage her to rely more on the group. Her development culminates in her being made the leader of Leo/need, a testament to her growing strong will and her ability to plan for the band's future while keeping everyone's dreams in mind. Outside of school, she works part-time as a housekeeper for Yoisaki Kanade, ensuring Kanade eats proper meals and maintains a clean living space, and the two have become good friends.

Honami has several notable abilities beyond her musical talent as a drummer. She is skilled at housework, including cooking and cleaning, and she particularly loves to bake apple pie. She has a great interest in astronomy and possesses extensive knowledge about constellations, which she enjoys sharing with others. Her hobbies include tending to her vegetable garden and walking her dog, a Shiba Inu named Shibao. She also has a talent for planning and organizing, often scheduling Leo/need's activities to increase their productivity and efficiency, a role that has led Saki to jokingly call her the band's mother. Her primary dislike is drawing, which she becomes flustered when asked about.
