ONA
Description
An Shiraishi is a central character in the project, known for her strong-willed and passionate nature. She is a second-year student at Kamiyama High School and a core member of the street music group Vivid BAD SQUAD. Her primary driving force is a deeply personal musical ambition: to surpass RAD WEEKEND, a legendary live event that her father, a former musician, helped create. This goal is not merely about competition but is tied to her upbringing on Vivid Street, where she was surrounded by music from a young age, learning to sing and write songs from her father, Ken Shiraishi, and his former bandmates, Nagi and Taiga.
Personality-wise, An is best described as a cool and candid individual with an unyielding spirit. She is naturally confident, independent, and possesses a magnetic, bright personality that makes her an emotionally aware mood-setter. Growing up as a beloved figure in the close-knit Vivid Street community, she finds it easy to get along with others, believing that anyone can connect through honesty and shared interests. While she is very friendly and kind to her close friends, she also has a playful, teasing side, particularly enjoying a good-natured rivalry with her bandmate Akito Shinonome. Despite her outward bravado, she has a well-known fear of ghost stories.
An's role in the story is fundamentally tied to her pursuit of surpassing RAD WEEKEND. Initially, she forms a singing duo called the VIVIDS with Kohane Azusawa after being impressed by Kohane's hidden talent. They later join forces with the male duo BAD DOGS, consisting of Akito and Toya Aoyagi, to form Vivid BAD SQUAD. Her relationship with Kohane, whom she considers her partner, is a cornerstone of her development. An is fiercely protective of Kohane but also struggles with feelings of inferiority and a fear of being left behind as Kohane rapidly improves. This leads to key story arcs where she learns to treat Kohane as an equal and embrace a mutually supportive rivalry. Her relationship with Akito is defined by their long-standing rivalry, which pushes both of them to improve, while she shares a more mutually respectful dynamic with Toya.
Outside of her main group, An has several notable relationships. She is close friends with Mizuki Akiyama, who is her classmate, and she is one of the few people who instinctively treats Mizuki with complete normalcy and consideration. She is also childhood friends with Haruka Kiritani, an idol, with whom she shares a lighthearted rivalry. Her family relationship with her father, Ken, is central to her motivation, and she looks up to Nagi as an admirable older sister figure and mentor. A significant part of her development involves coming to terms with the truth about Nagi's past and using that knowledge to reaffirm her own dream.
In terms of abilities, An is a talented singer with a strong and radiant voice, a skill she has been honing since childhood. She is also capable of brewing coffee and tea, a talent she uses while helping out at her father's live cafe and bar, Weekend Garage. Her other hobbies include growing mint plants. While she is a dedicated and driven musician, she openly admits to being bad at studying, a trait she shares with her rival Akito. Throughout the narrative, An demonstrates significant growth, evolving from a somewhat overprotective partner into a more secure and collaborative musician who understands that her dream is best achieved together with her friends.
