Description
Eva is a young girl who works as a waitress at the izakaya Nobu in the city of Artheria. She is a native of the city and comes from a poor background, living in circumstances of such need that she once considered stealing the tavern's water faucet, mistakenly believing it would provide an endless supply of clean drinking water for her family. Instead of punishment, however, she was shown compassion by the tavern's staff and was given a position washing dishes, which eventually led to her becoming a full-fledged server during busy hours.
Physically, Eva is a teenager with red hair cut to neck length and green eyes. She is small and delicately built, with an appearance that many customers find cute and reminiscent of a small animal, leading to her reputation as the izakaya's mascot. Her personality is honest, humble, and diligent. Despite her gentle nature, she possesses a firm backbone and does not hesitate to scold unruly guests when necessary, a trait that has earned her the playful nickname "the magistrate" when she supervises the table-side preparation of stew dishes.
Eva's primary motivation is the welfare of her younger siblings. She has two younger siblings, a brother named Adolf and a sister named Angelika, and takes her responsibility to provide for them very seriously. Her role within the story begins as a dishwasher and grows into an indispensable member of the Nobu team. She is a quick and careful worker, reliable in her duties, and gradually becomes more knowledgeable about the city's affairs through her interactions with customers ranging from merchants to nobles.
Her key relationships are centered on the izakaya. She works under the master Nobuyuki Yazawa and alongside the head waitress Shinobu Senke, to whom she is grateful for the second chance she received. The merchant Edwin becomes her teacher, instructing her in reading, writing, and arithmetic, which allows her to take on more responsibilities such as helping to manage inventory and curbing Nobuyuki's occasional over-purchasing. She is deeply family-oriented and often asks for extra staff meals to take home to her brother and sister.
Throughout her time at the izakaya, Eva undergoes significant development. Her exposure to different foods during staff meals refines her palate, and she eventually creates an original dish called Double-Moon Soba, a buckwheat noodle preparation that becomes popular as a dish of good fortune. This success sparks her joy in thinking up new menu items. Her journey also includes a strange, fateful encounter when she chases a white fox that steals an offering from the tavern's home altar, an incident that leads her to briefly wander into Japan before finding her way back. Her notable abilities include being a fast and meticulous dishwasher, an attentive server, and a budding culinary creator. Her love for eggs in all forms, particularly omelet rice, is a well-known personal trait.
