Description
Hermina is a young woman who becomes the wife of Berthold, the captain of the city guard in the ancient capital of Aiteria. She later takes on a role as a waitress at the izakaya Nobu. Born and raised in a fishing village as the daughter of a squid fisherman, her upbringing in a maritime environment has deeply shaped her skills and personality.

Initially, Hermina was Berthold's relative before entering into an arranged marriage with him at the age of sixteen. The couple's union was notably facilitated by the izakaya Nobu, which played a key role in helping Berthold overcome his aversion to squid a food that was a significant part of Hermina's family background. Following their marriage, circumstances prevented the newlyweds from immediate moving into their new home, leading Berthold to ask the staff at Nobu to watch over her. Subsequently, Hermina began working at the establishment as a waitress, also described as a floor employee, during the day while her husband was on duty.

In terms of personality, Hermina possesses a calm and collected demeanor, often displaying a notable composure that stands out in contrast to her physical appearance. She is known for her cool-headedness under pressure. Despite her somewhat fragile and elegant look, Hermina harbors an unsuspected and formidable physical strength. This strength, particularly her powerful grip, is a direct inheritance from her life working in the fishing industry. On one occasion, when an octopus escaped from a pot at Nobu and startled the other patrons, she calmly caught it without any sign of shock or fear. While her appearance is gentle, she has the capacity to be intimidating enough that regulars like Nikolaus and Hans have sworn never to anger her, being impressed by her formidable grip.

Hermina's key relationships are central to her role in the story. Her primary relationship is with her husband, Berthold, a former notorious mercenary known as the demon who later became the company commander of the city guard. She maintains a close bond with the staff of the izakaya Nobu, including the chef Nobuyuki and the waitress Shinobu, who provided her a place during her initial housing difficulties. As she works at the tavern, she becomes well-known to its regulars such as the tax collector Gernot.

One of Hermina's most notable abilities is her high level of efficiency and expertise when it comes to handling seafood, a skill set stemming from her upbringing. Her calmness and physical strength serve her well in the busy environment of the izakaya, making her a valuable presence in the dining hall. Among her personal tastes, her favorite foods are dried squid left to season overnight and grilled eel served over rice in the hitsumabushi style. She has been quoted as saying she would not grow tired of these dishes even if she ate them every day.
