ONA
Description
Pisces Aphrodite is a Gold Saint of the Pisces constellation and the guardian of the twelfth and final temple of Sanctuary in the second part of Battle for Sanctuary. He is one of the last defenders standing between the Bronze Saints and the Pope, and his temple represents the final trial before the truth of the Sanctuary is revealed. Among Athena's eighty-eight Saints, he is famous both for his extraordinary beauty, which often leads others to mistake him for a woman, and for his reputation as one of the most powerful and dangerous warriors of his rank.

Aphrodite's background places him among the elite Gold Saints serving the Pope during the Sanctuary conflict. He shares the name of the Greek goddess of love and beauty, a name he embodies through both his appearance and his chosen methods of combat. In the Knights of the Zodiac adaptation, he is among the Gold Saints ordered to kill Athena after a prophecy declares that she will lead humanity to ruin. He is fully aware that the man ruling Sanctuary as the Pope is a usurper, but he supports him willingly, because he trusts the power of the strong to protect the world and maintain order.

His personality is calm, composed, and refined, with an air of quiet confidence. He does not boast about his beauty and is not vain in a conventional sense; instead, he regards strength and victory as the truest forms of beauty. He is cold and merciless toward his enemies, and his speech tends to be ironic and sarcastic. He holds a clear philosophy: only absolute power can guarantee peace and justice, and the strong are entitled to rule over the weak. This conviction is not a pretense, and he never abandons it, even in defeat.

In the story of this season, Aphrodite confronts the Bronze Saints when Andromeda Shun and Pegasus Seiya reach the Pisces Temple. Before the battle, he sends his roses to intercept them, and when they arrive, he reveals that he is the Gold Saint who attacked Andromeda Island and killed Shun's master, Cepheus Daidalos. Shun's friend, Chameleon June, had told Shun the truth about his master's death, and Shun has long sworn to avenge him. Aphrodite allows Seiya to pass through the temple so that he can fight Shun alone, and the two engage in a duel that becomes the climactic confrontation of the Pisces Temple.

His key relationships are defined by this confrontation. The most significant is his enmity with Andromeda Shun, built on the murder of Daidalos, which gives their fight a deeply personal weight. He also stands in direct opposition to Pegasus Seiya, who must move past him to reach the Pope. His loyalty lies with the Pope and the ruling order of Sanctuary, which he serves knowingly.

In terms of development, Aphrodite undergoes little change. He is not a manipulated or tragic figure in the manner of some other Gold Saints; he acts deliberately and accepts the consequences of his choices. His death comes at Shun's hands, and he faces it without renouncing his beliefs or seeking redemption, remaining consistent to the end.

His notable abilities all revolve around roses. His attacks include the Royal Demon Rose, which unleashes a storm of roses upon the enemy; the Piranha Rose, a dark rose that devours and destroys what it touches; and the Bloody Rose, his most powerful technique, a single rose that drains the victim's life and turns from red to white as it does so. As a Gold Saint, he also possesses the heightened speed, strength, and endurance characteristic of his rank, and his lethal flowers make the Pisces Temple one of the deadliest grounds in the Sanctuary.
