Description
Sōgo Ōsaka represents the number five and the musical symbol mezzo forte in the idol group IDOLiSH7. Growing up in a wealthy, tradition-focused family that emphasized hierarchy led him to habitually suppress his own desires to avoid causing trouble. His family disapproved of his passion for music, leaving only his late uncle as an inspiration for his dream of becoming an idol; this loss fostered a deep-seated fear of abandonment. While at university, he encountered Otoharu Takanashi and, despite his usual reluctance towards such offers, joined Takanashi Productions upon realizing he wanted to choose his own path rather than accept a predetermined life.

He presents as kind, selfless, and reserved, often prioritizing others' needs over his own. This tendency makes him reluctant to express negative emotions or concerns, though he can become notably intimidating when angered. Sōgo serves as a stabilizing presence within IDOLiSH7, frequently handling domestic tasks like cleaning and organization, earning him comparisons to a maternal role alongside Yamato Nikaidō's paternal one. He regularly seeks advice from older members, particularly Yamato, reflecting his awareness of the group's age dynamics.

His background shapes his relationships, especially within the sub-unit MEZZO alongside Tamaki Yotsuba. Sōgo supports Tamaki's search for his lost sister Aya, and their partnership involves mutual growth—Tamaki designed Sōgo's signature, while Sōgo helps him with routines like running to build stamina. He also shares a close bond with Riku Nanase, bonding over shopping and watching rival group TRIGGER's DVDs. His interactions with Nagi Rokuya include nightly ghost story readings initiated after Nagi's joking request, which Nagi continues due to superstition about stopping prematurely.

Sōgo possesses diverse interests and traits. He is an avid music enthusiast, enjoying genres from jazz to rock, and secretly played guitar in a friend's band during university. He loves spicy foods like chili con carne and green curry, tolerating intense heat without issue, and handles bitter flavors well but avoids sweets. An indoor person, he spends free time on housework, walking while listening to music, or visiting record shops. He collects TRIGGER merchandise, creating a dedicated display with Mitsuki Izumi's guidance despite being poor at drawing. Other traits include mild anemia, inexperience with game centers or batting cages, and a reliable memory for learning choreography quickly.

His development involves navigating professional challenges, such as MEZZO's debut in Second Beat, where his emotional repression surfaces during conflicts with Tamaki. He gradually learns to voice his struggles, supported by group solidarity. This growth is underscored by his solo song "Koi no Kakera" in Third Beat, reflecting his ongoing journey toward self-expression.
