ONA
Description
Hammet is a member of the Samurai, a group of elite warriors, in the Hell's Requiem arc of the Bastard!! anime. He serves as the chief of staff for the rebel army and acts as a close and trusted associate of Mifune, a high-ranking leader within the resistance. In this capacity, Hammet functions primarily as a strategist and advisor rather than a front-line combatant. He has a high capacity for tactical planning and is often involved in key decisions regarding the rebel forces' movements and responses to threats.
In terms of appearance, Hammet is notably small in stature and wears glasses, with clothing that does not resemble traditional samurai attire, making his visual presentation distinct from many of his comrades. He possesses a calm personality and is able to quickly assess situations, a trait that serves him well in his role as a planner and close adviser to the leadership.
Hammet's motivations are aligned with the goals of the rebel army, which is to resist the forces of the Sorcerer Shoguns. He is deeply invested in the well-being and success of his fellow Samurai and the resistance as a whole. During the Sorcerer Shoguns' assault on the Samurai castle, he helps lead non-combatants to safety via a hidden path. He is greatly affected by the battle's casualties, falling into despair when trapped by an enemy's attack and confronted with the losses suffered by his side. He and his fallen comrades are later resurrected by the powerful wizard Dark Schneider, and Hammet rejoices with them after the battle is won.
His key relationships are primarily within the Samurai and the rebel command structure. He is a close advisor to Mifune, and he interacts regularly with other Samurai such as Vai Staebe, whom he scolds for inappropriate behavior, and Kai Harn, attempting to mediate a conflict involving her and Dark Schneider. He also demonstrates a pragmatic and caring side in his relationship with Joshua Belahia, revealing to Joshua that Yoko's father has survived but asking him to keep it a secret so Yoko can remain focused on the mission. During the final stages of the arc, Hammet shows his commitment to his duty by staying behind to help in the attack against the powerful sorcerer Kall-Su in the city of Judas, while other warriors depart for a separate objective. In the ensuing battle, upon realizing a catastrophic event is occurring, he follows orders to sound the retreat to get everyone out of the city.
Regarding notable abilities, Hammet's strengths are not in direct combat but in his mind. He does not serve on the front line, but his value to the rebel army lies in his keen tactical planning and strategic sense, acting as a general staff member.
