Description
Jorg Fishes is a character from the Hell's Requiem arc of the anime Bastard!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-. He is a member of the Samurai, a group of warriors from the old kingdom of A-Ian-Maide, and is recognized as one of their centurions.
Jorg was part of the same Samurai class as Joshua Berahia. Originally, he was not part of the inner circle led by Nils John Mifune, instead commanding a rebel army in a borderland. In terms of appearance, Jorg has tanned skin, lush eyelashes, and piercing eyes. His personality is defined by his righteousness and strong sense of justice, and he cares deeply for his friends and comrades. This earnestness is a core part of his character.
Jorg's primary motivation is to protect others and fight against the forces of evil, particularly the Sorcerer Shoguns under the command of the Divine King Kall-Su. His role in the story begins with him leading a civilian uprising against Kall-Su's forces in the land of Ho Rando. During this uprising, he challenges the Sorcerer Shogun Maclalpine Toni Strauss to a fight. Maclalpine uses his wire-based abilities to sever Jorg's arms and legs. Before Jorg succumbs to his injuries, he manages to crawl back to the Samurai castle to warn his allies of an impending attack. After his death, it is revealed that Maclalpine used a thread to track Jorg back to the Samurai's hidden base. Prince Mercy, blaming Jorg for this discovery, kicks his dead body.
Jorg is later brought back to life by the powerful wizard Dark Schneider, who uses the regeneration insects of Ba Thory, one of the Sorcerer Shoguns, to resurrect the fallen Samurai. After his resurrection, Jorg rejoins his fellow Samurai. He is present for a celebration hosted by Yoko and later travels with the group through an Elven Gate to the lost city of King Crimson Glory to prevent the final seal on the demon god Anthrasax from being undone. In King Crimson Glory, the Samurai, including Jorg, are present for major battles against the Sorcerer Shoguns and later against the awakening Anthrasax.
Throughout the journey, his key relationships are with his fellow Samurai, especially his best friend Joshua Berahia. He also shares a bond with the rebel forces he once commanded. After the group returns from King Crimson Glory, they are confronted by a transformed Prince Mercy, who seeks revenge. In the ensuing battle against a horde of Mercy's monsters, Jorg is killed once more. He dies trying to block an attack from one of the monsters, an act that results in both of his arms being blown off. This final sacrifice highlights his development as a warrior who consistently puts himself in harm's way for the sake of his comrades.
