Jun Kasama
Description
Jun Kasama is a Japanese voice actor and narrator born on April 10, 1984, in Hiroshima Prefecture. He is affiliated with the talent agency Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society, commonly known as Haikyō.
Kasama's path to voice acting was unconventional. After graduating from university, he worked as an employee at the Chugoku Shimbun newspaper. His interest in voice acting, sparked in middle school by the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, led him to enroll in Haikyō's voice acting training program in 2010 while still employed. For about a year, he commuted from Hiroshima to Tokyo on weekends for training before resigning from the newspaper in 2011 to fully commit to his new career. He made his professional debut in 2013 with a minor role in the anime Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Ars Nova.
For several years following his debut, Kasama built his experience by voicing numerous minor and supporting characters across a wide range of anime series. A significant early opportunity came in 2017 when he was cast as Wilibald Koenig in the military fantasy anime Saga of Tanya the Evil. He would go on to reprise this role in its sequel, the crossover series Isekai Quartet and its second season, and the film Gekijо̄ban Isekai Quartet ~Another World~, establishing a recurring character in his filmography.
The year 2018 marked a turning point as Kasama landed his first main roles. He voiced Kyoya Kisugi, also known as Kyoya Kujo, in the ONA Gundam Build Divers Prologue and its subsequent television series Gundam Build Divers. The same year, he played Otoya Todoroki in the comedy short series You Don't Know Gunma Yet and took on notable supporting parts such as Nimble Arc Dale Anoch in Overlord III.
Kasama's career gained further momentum in 2020 with his role as Aran Ojiro, the ace spiker and captain of Inarizaki High School, in the fourth season of the popular sports anime Haikyu!! To The Top. This performance showcased his ability to convey the determination and intensity of athletic characters. Other roles during this period included Kranz in Noblesse and Nameless in Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World.
A defining moment in Kasama's career arrived in 2022 when he was cast as Hisashi Mitsui in the highly successful anime film The First Slam Dunk. Voicing the iconic shooting guard from the classic basketball series was a significant achievement, amplified by the film's massive commercial success and critical acclaim, which included winning Animation of the Year at the 46th Japan Academy Film Prize. This role cemented his association with sports-themed narratives, a natural fit given his personal background in basketball.
Continuing to work steadily across various genres, Kasama's subsequent roles include Renji Ii in the original anime series Eikyū Shōnen Eternal Boys and its sequel Eikyū Shōnen Eternal Boys NEXT STAGE, Rud in The Strongest Tank's Labyrinth Raids, Tomiki in Snack Basue, Ryōhei Sudō in Tasūketsu, Brocken Jr. in Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc, and Novick in Tower of God: Workshop Battle. He also voiced Lucifer in the anime film The Laws of the Universe: The Age of Elohim.
Beyond anime, Kasama is active in video games, with roles including SAM in Honkai: Star Rail, Huang Feihu in Fate/Grand Order, and HiMERU in Ensemble Stars. He is also a member of the idol music unit Legenders within The IDOLM@STER SideM franchise, contributing to its music and live performances. His work as a narrator has been a consistent part of his career, lending his voice to various Japanese television programs.
