Description
Hatonami Ayame is a former police officer navigating a Gibia virus-ravaged world. She sports short pink hair, multiple scars across her face, arms, and midsection from battling Gibia monsters, and typically wears a police uniform with blue lipstick.

Her background is marked by tragedy: born to a Chinese mother and Renjiro Hatonami—leader of a small yakuza group—she endured childhood bullying and isolation due to her mixed heritage and father's criminal ties, resulting in a friendless upbringing. After becoming a police officer, Ayame's life shattered when a Gibia fatally stung her mother during the outbreak. She personally killed her mother to prevent transformation. Simultaneously, her father escaped prison during the chaos, prompting Ayame to dedicate herself to his arrest.

Ayame's combat skills derive from martial arts training under a Chinese restaurant owner. She specializes in tonfas and firearms like shotguns, demonstrating practical proficiency in close-quarters and ranged combat against Gibia threats.

She joins the main survivor group after rescuing Kathleen Funada from a Gibia attack in a tunnel. Later, at a hot spring, she reveals her family history and motivations. Her character arc centers on confronting her father, Renjiro, who leads the outlaw Galients. When the Galients ambush the survivors, Ayame condemns Renjiro for prioritizing theft over protecting people from Gibia. She informs him of her mother's death and demands he fight Gibia to avenge her instead. She spares his life but banishes him from her sight.

Her story ends when Dr. Yoshinaga injects her with an enhanced Gibia strain, forcibly mutating her into a monster. To spare Renjiro the burden of killing his daughter, Sensui Kanzaki mercy-kills her via decapitation.
