Hiroki Nanami
Description
Hiroki Nanami is a Japanese actress, singer, and voice actress who began her career as a star of the Takarazuka Revue, a renowned all-female musical theater troupe. Born in Ibaraki Prefecture on January 16, 1984, her stage name is derived from the anime "Tico of the Seven Seas" and the Japanese word for "vast," reflecting the imagery of the ocean. After graduating from the Takarazuka Music School, she joined the revue in 2003, where she performed as an otokoyaku, or male-role specialist, for sixteen years, first with the Cosmos Troupe and later with the Star Troupe.
Nanami retired from the Takarazuka Revue in March 2019 to pursue a career as a singer and voice actor. She signed with the talent agency Andstir and the music label King Records, making her post-Takarazuka artist debut with the mini-album "GALAXY" in August 2019. Later that year, she was appointed a cultural ambassador for her home prefecture, Ibaraki.
Her voice acting career began in earnest in 2020 with her first major role as Shizuno in the anime series Somali and the Forest Spirit. This was quickly followed by a variety of other roles, showcasing her range. She has voiced characters such as Hideto Mitsu in Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga, Ayame Hatonami in Gibiate, and Rei in Pretty Boy Detective Club. In 2021, she took on prominent roles in high-profile series, including Hao Asakura in Shaman King, Eve Louise in Visual Prison, and Sei Satomi in Kageki Shojo!!.
Her career has continued to expand with a steady stream of voice acting work. She has voiced characters like Theo in Insect Land, Shion Zaiden in RWBY: Ice Queendom, Senya in Sengoku Youko, Miyabi Hosorogi in Dead Mount Death Play, and Sasumata in Good Night World. In 2023, she was cast as Abyss Razor in Mashle: Magic and Muscles and as Joka in the critically acclaimed series The Apothecary Diaries. Her role as Jun in the drama Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko 2nd Stage further demonstrates her versatility as a performer across different media.
In addition to her voice acting, Nanami has maintained an active career in music and on stage. She has released multiple albums and singles, and her theme song performances for series like Helck and Visual Prison highlight the connection between her dual careers. She continues to star in theatrical productions, applying the skills honed during her years in the Takarazuka Revue to new stage roles.
