Description
Hiiragi Ichirou, known by his player alias "The Florist," was a middle-aged participant in Darwin's Game. His primary motivation was securing funds for medical treatment for his daughter, Suzune, who suffered from a serious heart condition. Ichirou himself battled a similar cardiac issue, resulting in a cautious combat approach and a limited life expectancy. He typically concealed his appearance during missions, favoring a full-body suit or casual attire: a white shirt, dark pants, and an apron when not actively engaged. Neatly combed black hair and some facial hair were his visible features.

Initially perceived as cold and strategic, Ichirou demonstrated exceptional skill in setting intricate traps and leveraging environmental advantages. His tactical mindset allowed him to dominate engagements from a distance, avoiding direct confrontation while maintaining visual contact. This was exemplified during a treasure hunt event where he fortified an entire high-rise hotel using his abilities, transforming it into a nearly impenetrable stronghold. Beneath his calculated exterior lay profound dedication to his daughter’s well-being.

Ichirou’s sigil, "Meg Mel," granted him extensive phytokinetic abilities to generate, manipulate, and accelerate the growth of diverse plant life. This power enabled specialized techniques: Plant Armor encased his body in dense layers of wood and vegetation, rendering him resistant to bullets, grenades, and physical strikes while enhancing durability and stamina; Body Puppetry involved infiltrating opponents' bodies with vines or seeds—often enhanced with narcotic compounds—to control their movements or induce rapid internal growths to eliminate them; Terrain Manipulation allowed him to erect massive botanical barricades capable of withstanding explosives, ensnare foes with reactive vines, and conceal traps like grenades within overgrowth. As his heart failed during his final battle, he temporarily stabilized himself using plants to support his cardiovascular system. His control extended to structural sabotage, notably collapsing a 20-story building by undermining its foundations with accelerated plant growth.

Ichirou first clashed with Kaname Sudō during a battle royale event within the hotel he controlled. Using plant armor and puppetry, he forced Kaname to fight mind-controlled allies, including Ryūji Maesaka. After being outmaneuvered by Kaname and Rein Kashiwagi, Ichirou allied with them against the Eighth Clan. He played a pivotal role in defending the group’s position by reinforcing the hotel with botanical defenses and providing tactical support. His arc culminated during the Eighth Clan’s assault; severely wounded by Eighth members Keiichi and Sig, he sacrificed himself to cover his allies' retreat, triggering the building’s collapse, killing multiple adversaries and injuring Sig.

His relationship with Suzune defined his actions; he explicitly stated his participation aimed solely at securing her medical care. His death left her uninformed about his fate due to the game’s secrecy rules, though she later joined the game under tragic circumstances. Posthumously, his legacy persisted through Kaname’s clan, the Sunset Ravens, who honored his memory by protecting Suzune. His character transitioned from an isolated antagonist to a selfless ally.
