Description
Wendelin von Benno Baumeister began existence as Shingo Ichinomiya, a 25-year-old Japanese office worker reincarnated into a fantasy world. He became the fifth child and eighth son of the impoverished Baumeister noble family. As a low-ranking heir under primogeniture traditions, he confronted limited inheritance prospects within his family's territory. His fortunes shifted upon discovering exceptional magical aptitude, signified by a rainbow-colored reaction from a magic testing orb in his father's library. This power drew the attention of Alfred Reinford, a deceased former court magician existing as a sentient undead spirit who sensed Wendelin's potential. Alfred secretly trained Wendelin in magic and swordsmanship for three weeks before requesting purification via holy magic to avoid becoming a mindless zombie, passing his knowledge and assets to Wendelin as his successor.
Wendelin developed into a highly skilled mage and swordsman. Departing home at age 12, he attended an adventurer academy in Breitburg on a scholarship granted for his magical capabilities. There, he forged lasting bonds with classmates Erwin von Arnim, Louise Yorande Aorelia Oufelbeik, and Iina Suzane Hirenbrant after rescuing the latter two from a wolf attack. This group became his core adventuring party. Their accomplishments attracted the patronage of Margrave Amadeus Freitak von Bleichröder, who connected Wendelin with Brantack Lyngstad, Alfred's former mentor. Wendelin inherited Alfred's estate, wealth, and golem guardians, substantially increasing his resources.
His adventuring career featured notable feats: defeating an undead ancient bone dragon assaulting an airship and slaying the elder dragon Grade Grande at King Helmut's request. These achievements earned royal recognition, elevating him to Baronet and later Baron. Further service to the kingdom resulted in his appointment as an Earl with autonomous territory. Amidst this rise, he navigated complex political ties, including an arranged engagement to Elise Katharina von Hohenheim, granddaughter of the kingdom's Cardinal, which evolved into genuine affection.
Wendelin married multiple partners: Elise as his official wife, then Louise and Iina after the king granted them noble status to permit marriage. He later wed Wilma, adopted into nobility as a strategic protector against political rivals, and eventually his former sister-in-law. These marriages reflected both political strategy and personal bonds, with Wendelin striving to maintain equality among his wives through shared gifts and attention.
Personality-wise, Wendelin displayed humility about his vast magical abilities alongside adaptability to his reincarnated life. He maintained practical problem-solving instincts and strong protectiveness towards family, reacting intensely to insults against his wives. A recurring fascination involved recreating Japanese cuisine from his previous existence, accompanied by occasional perverse tendencies like accidental intrusions during private moments. A notable quirk was his resentment toward individuals possessing childhood friends, stemming from his lack of such relationships in either lifetime. He also engaged in strategic political maneuvers when required, such as blacklisting families for disrespect toward his spouses.
