Description
Willy Tybur, Eldian noble and head of the clandestinely influential Tybur family, wielded covert authority over Marley despite his heritage. The Tyburs’ alliance with King Karl Fritz during the Great Titan War dismantled the Eldian Empire, crafting the myth of Helos to legitimize Marley’s ascendancy. This secured their status as honorary Marleyans, free from internment and armbands, while they manipulated politics from the shadows.

Heir to a legacy steeped in guilt over his ancestors’ role in Eldian oppression and Marley’s militaristic rise, Willy blamed their historical passivity for perpetuating global anti-Eldian bigotry. Determined to atone, he aimed to uplift mainland Eldians, though the War Hammer Titan’s inheritance by his sister Lara deepened his remorse, leaving him reliant on her power.

Willy masterminded a political upheaval, allying with Commander Theo Magath to purge Marley’s expansionist regime. He designed the Liberio festival as a calculated stage for declaring war on Paradis Island, predicting Eren Yeager’s retaliatory strike to eliminate corrupt officials and refocus global animosity onto Paradis. In his revelatory speech, he exposed the Tyburs’ collusion with King Fritz and the fabricated Helos narrative, casting Paradis as a universal menace to forge worldwide unity.

The declaration served dual aims: installing Magath’s reformed leadership and offering Willy’s own martyrdom to bolster continental Eldians. Aware of the Rumbling’s apocalyptic threat, he deemed his sacrifice essential to shatter cycles of vengeance and redeem his family’s name. His death during Eren’s assault cemented him as a conflicted icon, though his strategy partially rallied nations against Paradis.

Privately, Willy fathered five children, entrusting their care to his eldest daughter Fine. His motives intertwined sincere penitence with shrewd calculation, accepting moral ambiguity as the price for transformative change. Even after Lara’s defeat transferred the War Hammer Titan to Eren, the Tyburs’ political legacy endured, shaping Marley’s destiny and the world’s fragile alliances.
