Description
Thunder Hawk, commonly referred to as T. Hawk, is a character who first appeared in the 1993 game Super Street Fighter II as one of its four new challengers. He is a towering and immensely powerful warrior from Mexico, standing 230 centimeters tall and weighing 162 kilograms, with a strong, imposing build that includes long arms and legs, pronounced cheekbones, and a square jaw. His face is marked with white tribal paint on his cheeks and lower jaw. He wears a denim vest and pants, a feathered headband, and moccasins, an aesthetic designed to reflect his indigenous cultural background. During the character's development, he was originally named Geronimo, but this was changed after concerns that the name could be considered racially insensitive; his design was also altered to avoid relying on outdated stereotypes.

T. Hawk is a member of the fictional Thunderfoot tribe, and his entire life has been shaped by the criminal organization Shadaloo. When he was an infant, Shadaloo, led by the tyrannical M. Bison, forced his people from their ancestral homeland. His father, Arroyo Hawk, the tribe's leader, was murdered by Bison during this attack. As an adult living near the Monte Albán plains in Mexico, T. Hawk is driven by a deep sense of responsibility and a desire for justice. His primary motivation is twofold: to reclaim the sacred land stolen from his people and to rescue his fellow tribe members who have suffered at Shadaloo's hands. Among the missing is his beloved childhood friend and partner, Julia, who was captured and brainwashed by Bison to become Juli, one of his elite female assassins known as the Dolls.

Despite his fearsome and brutal appearance, T. Hawk possesses a gentle and noble personality. He has a profound respect for nature, particularly animals, with whom he shares a special connection that allows him to communicate with raptors. He is a skilled wood carver and is known to be honest and honorable, disapproving strongly of lies and deception. His external demeanor is often stoic, grumpy, and unemotional, a hardness born from the suffering and devastation inflicted upon his people and homeland. However, beneath this tough exterior lies a warm-hearted and compassionate individual whose quest for revenge is solely a means to restore his people and heal his ruined homeland.

In the story of the Street Fighter series, T. Hawk enters the second World Warrior tournament to confront M. Bison directly. While he does not emerge as the tournament's grand champion, he successfully reclaims his tribe's land, though he finds it desolate and empty. Following this, he vows to restore the land to its former glory and bring his people home. In the events of Street Fighter Alpha 3, his journey focuses on finding the disappeared members of his tribe. This leads him to confront Juli, whom he recognizes as the brainwashed Julia. After defeating Bison, he takes her back to his homeland, hoping to undo her conditioning. By the time of Super Street Fighter IV, his land has begun to recover, but feeling unworthy of becoming the next chief due to his failure to fully save Julia, he enters another tournament to continue his atonement.

T. Hawk shares significant relationships with several characters. His primary nemesis is M. Bison, the source of his tribe's destruction and his father's death. His relationship with Julia, now the assassin Juli, is a central emotional driver, representing his personal loss and his hope for redemption. He also has a noted rivalry with the Mexican luchador El Fuerte, stemming from an undisclosed previous encounter. Despite his large size, his fighting style, known as Thunderfoot martial arts, is noted for its finesse and speed, making him more agile than many other bulky fighters. His signature techniques include the Tomahawk Buster, an uppercut-like rising attack; the Condor Dive, a swift, swooping aerial strike; and the devastating Mexican Typhoon, a powerful grappling move where he spins an opponent in the air before slamming them headfirst into the ground.
