Description
Eita Sasaki is a nineteen-year-old university student and a key supporting character. He is the master of the Chocolate Rabbit guild in the online game Forest of Savior (FOS), the same guild that the protagonist Akane Kinoshita joins. Physically, Eita is a tall and handsome young man with a slender but slightly muscular build. His most distinctive features are his long, light blonde hair which he keeps well-maintained, and a pair of eyeglasses that he wears due to eye strain from playing video games. His fashion sense is generally relaxed yet put-together, often seen in hoodies and casual jeans.
One of Eita’s most notable and surprising traits is his in-game persona. He plays using a cute female avatar named Princess Ruri, or Rurihime, which leads many players, including Akane, to initially believe he is a girl. He firmly rejects the term nekama, a derogatory label for a man posing as a woman online, insisting that his avatar is simply another character he plays. The design of his avatar is based on his younger sister, Runa Sasaki, whom he adores. This devotion to Runa defines much of his personal life, as he is a doting and protective older brother who even modeled his virtual identity after her.
In terms of personality, Eita is the antithesis of his quiet and reserved friend, Akito Yamada. He has a caring, patient, and nurturing disposition, which makes him a natural confidant and the emotional anchor of their friend group. Akane frequently turns to him for advice, and he often serves as a bridge between her and the more emotionally constipated Yamada. Despite his calm and reliable exterior, he has a surprisingly affectionate and at times "moe" or doting side, a trait he likely inherited from his equally bubbly mother. While he is generally easygoing, he is also perceptive and astute, often being the first to notice the romantic tension or emotional turmoil brewing between his friends.
Eita's role in the story is primarily that of a supportive friend and a calming influence. He is a senior to Akito Yamada, having come from the same hometown, and consequently understands Yamada better than most people. He serves as a mentor figure to both Yamada and Akane, gently pushing them toward each other while also protecting them from social pitfalls. For instance, he is instrumental in organizing guild activities and helps to resolve conflicts, such as the misunderstanding when his sister Runa played a mean-spirited prank on Akane. While he is a skilled gamer and guild leader, his most significant ability is his emotional intelligence and his talent for reading people, which allows him to mediate effectively between the strong-willed Runa, the shy Yamada, and the earnest Akane.
Eita’s key relationships are central to his character. His friendship with Yamada is long-standing and comfortable, allowing him to see past Yamada’s emotionless facade. He also develops a strong platonic bond with Akane, becoming one of her closest supporters and someone who helps her navigate her new feelings. His relationship with his sister Runa is complex; he loves her deeply but is not afraid to scold her when she behaves badly, showing that his care is not blind. Across the series, Eita shows little dramatic development himself because he is already a well-adjusted and stable individual. Instead, his function is to facilitate the growth of others, acting as a reliable big brother figure to the entire guild and a steady, warm presence that helps the main romantic plot progress. He also works a part-time job at a café, balancing his university life, work, and gaming hobbies.
