ONA
Description
Ains Ooal Gown is the Sorcerer King and supreme ruler of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, a character originally from the Overlord series who finds himself in an unusual predicament within the Halloween crossover special, Ple Ple Pleiades x Kage-jitsu!. The special places him at the center of a body-swapping phenomenon, where his consciousness is transferred into the body of Shadow, the protagonist from The Eminence in Shadow. This event occurs spontaneously while he is in his throne room discussing the concept of Halloween with his loyal battle maids, the Pleiades.

Upon awakening in this unfamiliar human form, Ains is initially met with confusion and panic. He finds himself surrounded not by his own subordinates, but by the Seven Shadows, who address him as their master, Shadow. His personality in this scenario contrasts sharply with the composed and powerful image he usually projects. His internal monologue reveals a cautious and somewhat anxious individual, more akin to his original human self, Satoru Suzuki, than the undead overlord he portrays. He is acutely aware that he is in an unknown situation and is desperate to avoid making a mistake that could expose the body swap.

His primary motivation throughout the special is to maintain his cover and navigate the situation without causing a catastrophe. Uncertain if the Seven Shadows are NPCs like his own, he decides to adopt the persona of Shadow to avoid trouble. This leads to a performance where he casts himself in a grandiose, "chuunibyou" manner, a role he inwardly finds embarrassing but executes to convince the women that he is their true leader. His driving force is the need to understand what has happened and find a way to return to his own body and his domain.

In the story, Ains serves as one half of the comedy duo created by the body swap. While he is trying to play it safe and blend in, his counterpart, Shadow in Ains's skeletal body, is thrilled with his new terrifying appearance and fully embraces the role of an evil overlord. This contrast highlights Ains's more reserved and calculating nature. He quickly deduces that the mysterious door that has appeared in the Seven Shadows' headquarters leads to Nazarick, proving his analytical mind remains sharp even in a foreign body. His role is to be the straight man, reacting with exhaustion and exasperation to Shadow's enthusiastic and often chaotic behavior.

Key relationships in this special are defined by the swap. He interacts primarily with Alpha and the rest of the Seven Shadows, who treat him with absolute reverence as their leader, a dynamic he finds both helpful and stressful. His connection to his own NPCs, the Pleiades, is indirect, as they are interacting with Shadow in his body. The most significant new relationship is the bizarre, unspoken connection he forms with Shadow himself, the person with whom he has been unwillingly exchanged. At the special's end, when Shadow finds a strange device that reverses the swap, Ains is left exhausted by the whole affair, while Shadow reflects that it was an interesting experience.

Regarding development, the special is a comedic, self-contained vignette and does not advance the character's main storyline or provide any lasting change. As with other comedic specials, Ains's status quo is fully restored by the end, and the events are treated as a bizarre dream. His character serves as a vehicle for the humor derived from a powerful, calculating ruler being forced to improvise in an absurd and unfamiliar situation.

In terms of abilities, Ains does not display his usual arsenal of high-tier magic in this special. His notable capabilities are his strategic thinking and his skill in deception. He successfully analyzes his predicament, deduces the origin of the mysterious door, and convincingly role-plays as Shadow to avoid raising suspicion. His power in this context is his knowledge and his ability to act under pressure, rather than his immense magical prowess as an Overlord.
