Description
Masataka Kiyomizu, better known by his alias Kiyomasa, is a minor antagonist in the anime Tokyo Revengers 2. He is a tall, muscular fourteen-year-old student at Shibuya Third Middle School, easily identified by a scar over his left eyebrow, black hair styled into a small pompadour, and a tendency to smoke. Kiyomasa was once a member of the Tokyo Manji Gang but was expelled for unknown reasons; afterward, he formed his own smaller gang composed of older third-year students. His background before joining Toman is not detailed, but he has always been a dominant bully who picks on weaker individuals. Kiyomasa’s personality is defined by cruelty, arrogance, and a deep cowardice that he masks with aggression. He enjoys asserting power over those he considers beneath him and becomes disproportionately violent when challenged, often resorting to using a baseball bat. Despite his intimidating appearance, he is not a skilled fighter and avoids confronting anyone stronger, such as Draken or Mikey, showing fear and submission when faced with superiors. His primary motivation is a thirst for control and a desire to dominate others, driven by a petty, vengeful nature. In the story, Kiyomasa is the original source of Takemichi Hanagaki’s childhood trauma, having regularly bullied Takemichi and his friends and forced them to act as slaves. This treatment left Takemichi with deep insecurity and a fear of confrontation. When Takemichi travels back in time, his first act of defiance is to stand up to Kiyomasa, marking the beginning of his personal growth. Kiyomasa also operates an underground fighting ring without Toman’s consent, leading to a confrontation with Draken and Mikey, during which he is publicly humiliated. This humiliation fuels a vengeful streak, and he is later manipulated into attempting to stab Draken out of spite. Kiyomasa’s role is largely confined to the early arcs, serving as a catalyst for Takemichi’s transformation and a demonstration of the kind of bullying that shaped the protagonist’s past. He has no significant relationships beyond his gang members and no romantic interests; his only notable connection is the animosity he holds toward Mikey and the Tokyo Manji Gang. His development is minimal—he remains a cowardly bully throughout, never overcoming his fear of stronger opponents. Physically, he is strong for his age but lacks technique, relying on intimidation and weapons to maintain his position. His fighting ability is adequate against ordinary students but insufficient against skilled delinquents. Overall, Kiyomasa is a straightforward antagonist whose primary narrative function is to embody the casual cruelty that Takemichi must overcome to change his future.
