In the anime film The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, Háma is a prince of Rohan and the younger son of Helm Hammerhand, the fierce king of Rohan. He is a member of the royal family during a turbulent period in the kingdom's history, set approximately two centuries before the events of The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Háma has a youthful appearance typical of a teen, with blonde hair that falls to his neck and green eyes. His personality stands in contrast to that of his older brother, Haleth. While Haleth is depicted as being much like their father—fierce and warlike—Háma is characterized as the more sensitive of Helm’s children. This gentler nature shapes his actions and responses to the brutal conflict that engulfs Rohan.

As the son of the king, Háma’s primary role is as a prince of the realm, standing alongside his father and brother to defend their people. When Rohan is invaded by the Dunlending lord Wulf, who seeks vengeance for his own father’s death at Helm’s hands, Háma joins the royal family in their desperate retreat. He fights alongside King Helm and his sibling as they make a last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg, a fortress that would later become known as Helm’s Deep.

His key relationships are defined by his immediate family. He is the brother of Haleth and of Héra, the king’s daughter, who serves as the film’s protagonist. As the younger son, he looks up to his father and brother, though his more sensitive disposition sets him apart from their aggressive nature. His bond with his family ultimately guides his motivations, which center on loyalty, survival, and protecting his homeland from the invading forces.

Háma undergoes a tragic development arc during the course of the film’s story, which takes place during the harsh Long Winter. After the Rohirrim are forced to retreat to the Hornburg, they face not only their enemies but also a devastating famine. As conditions worsen, Háma falls into despair. In a pivotal moment of defiance or desperation, he chooses to ignore his father’s counsel and leads a sortie of men out from the fortress in an attempt to break the siege. The attempt fails, and Háma and his men become lost in a great snowstorm and never return. His disappearance and presumed death represent a significant loss for King Helm and contribute to the grim legacy of that winter.

As a prince of Rohan, Háma is trained for battle, though the film focuses less on exceptional abilities and more on his familial role and his tragic, ill-fated decision to ride out against his father’s orders. He is armed with a sword and fights alongside the Rohirrim cavalry, but his story is ultimately one of sensitivity overwhelmed by the harshness of war.
