Description
Kento Miura is a secondary character who joins the main cast at Kitahoro High School at the start of the second year. Born on February 6, he is an Aquarius with blood type A and stands at 181 centimeters tall, possessing a notable height and a lean build. He is distinguished by his wavy, blond hair and brownish-yellow eyes, a look that initially leads the protagonist Sawako Kuronuma to imagine him as American. After graduating from high school, he goes on to study interior design.
Kento possesses a flamboyant and naturally charming personality, making him very popular, particularly among female students. He has cultivated a following of girls whom he has helped through emotional difficulties, and they agree not to become romantically involved with him. He carries a life motto of universal love or altruism and describes himself as honest and sincere, although his actions are often quite carefree. While outgoing and kind on the surface, he genuinely embraces the attention he receives, which contrasts with the main male protagonist Shouta Kazehaya, who sometimes hides his insecurities behind a similar facade. Despite his good intentions, Kento has a tendency to act on his own assumptions and jump to conclusions, which can lead to misunderstandings and unintended consequences for those around him.
Kento’s primary role in the story is as a catalyst for romantic development among the main characters. Upon being seated next to Sawako in their new class, he immediately shows interest in her. His persistent attention serves as a direct trigger for Kazehaya’s jealousy, which ultimately helps Sawako recognize and articulate her own feelings for Kazehaya. He organizes study sessions and positions himself as an advisor to Sawako. When his own romantic interest in her becomes clear, he attempts to convince her to move on from Kazehaya, claiming that Kazehaya likes someone else. However, after Sawako and Kazehaya officially become a couple, he admits he was wrong and offers the pair his genuine support.
Kento’s relationships with the other characters evolve significantly. His dynamic with Sawako’s friend, Ayane Yano, is a central part of his development. Initially hostile towards him, believing he will meddle in Sawako’s affairs, Ayane’s perspective changes as he shows sincere interest in her. They eventually begin a serious relationship, but it fails to progress as they face the pressures of planning for their futures after high school. Ayane becomes frustrated with Kento for trying to base his decisions on hers, leading to their breakup. The two part on mature and respectful terms, with Kento later congratulating her on her success. His relationship with Kazehaya is initially tense and competitive as he tries to interfere between him and Sawako. However, after his own relationship with Ayane begins, he seeks advice from Kazehaya, and their interactions cool into a more neutral, friendly territory. With Ume Kurumizawa, a classmate from his first year, Kento shares a history where he once made an insensitive suggestion that the two of them date other people to solve their romantic problems, an idea that was swiftly rejected.
Throughout the narrative, Kento demonstrates notable growth. He learns to recognize the strength of the bond between Sawako and Kazehaya, gracefully stepping aside and admitting his previous meddling was wrong. In his own romantic life with Ayane, he starts as a flirtatious admirer but eventually shows a capacity for deep feelings and serious commitment. When the relationship ends, he accepts the breakup with maturity, valuing the experience and the genuine emotions they shared. Kento's notable ability lies in his social intelligence and his talent for interacting with and understanding girls. He is skilled at offering advice, providing emotional support, and connecting with people easily, even if his well-meaning interventions sometimes backfire.
