TV-Series
Description
Mashirao Ojiro is a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School and a hero-in-training who uses the hero name Tailman. He is a muscular young man with short blond hair swept to the front and thin eyes without lower eyelashes. His most distinctive physical feature is a long, powerful tail that grows from his lower back, completely hairless except for a tuft at the tip that matches the color of his hair. Ojiro is fifteen years old, born on May 28, and stands about 169 centimeters tall.

Ojiro has an honest, sincere, and straightforward personality. He is polite and values trust with his teammates, often serving as a level-headed and sensible presence in Class 1-A. He has a strong sense of dignity and a profound sense of fairness, which was clearly shown during the U.A. High Sports Festival. When he faced an opponent who had been brainwashed and could not fight with their true abilities, Ojiro won the match but could not genuinely celebrate. He later approached his opponent to apologize for the circumstances, demonstrating that he values honesty and fair competition over simply winning. Despite being known for his calm and noble attitude, he is also humble and easily embarrassed, particularly because other characters often describe him as plain or ordinary, a remark that genuinely upsets him.

His core motivation is to become a Pro Hero through steady effort and self-improvement. Ojiro does not have an overpowering or flashy Quirk, which drives him to work harder than many of his classmates. He is deeply disciplined and dedicated to refining his martial arts skills and his control over his tail. He believes in earning his achievements through his own abilities and is not satisfied with results that feel undeserved.

In the story, Ojiro is a supporting member of Class 1-A who participates in major school events, training exercises, and the all-out war against the League of Villains. During the Final Season, he continues to fight alongside his classmates against the Paranormal Liberation Front. In the seventh season, he was shown engaging a villain named Chojuro, managing to hold his own for an extended period until reinforcements arrived. He is consistently portrayed as a reliable teammate who can be counted on in battle.

His key relationships include his fellow Class 1-A students. He is particularly close to Denki Kaminari, who often plays with his tail in a friendly manner. Ojiro respects his classmates and teachers, and he works cooperatively with everyone. He is not tied to any single rivalry but maintains a supportive camaraderie with the whole group.

Ojiro’s development over the series is tied to his growth in confidence and combat skill. Initially bothered by being seen as plain, he gradually accepts that his simple Quirk is not a weakness if he trains it diligently. He transforms from a self-aware, slightly insecure teen into a dependable martial artist who compensates for his lack of flashy abilities with sheer determination and hard work.

His notable ability is his Quirk called Tail. This gives him a strong, prehensile tail that he can control as freely as a third arm. The tail is thick and muscular, allowing him to deliver powerful strikes, aid in balance, support his full body weight, and maneuver acrobatically. He combines his tail with his knowledge of martial arts for close-range combat. His fighting style focuses on speed, precision, and adaptability. He has developed named techniques such as Tail Whirlwind Dance and Tail Fist Swamp Strike Whirlwind. Ojiro’s approach to fighting is straightforward: he uses physical conditioning and repetition to make the most of a relatively simple Mutation-type Quirk, proving that steady training can create a capable hero.
