Live-Action TV
Description
Agent Stone is a character created for the live-action film series, serving as the personal assistant and dedicated right-hand to the main antagonist, Dr. Robotnik. His background is that of a U.S. government agent who was assigned to work directly under Robotnik. While his original purpose in the first film was simply to give Robotnik another character to interact with, the role was developed significantly through collaboration between the actor and Jim Carrey.

In terms of personality, Stone is portrayed as a normal, level-headed, and composed individual who remains calm under pressure. His most defining trait is his unwavering loyalty and deep admiration for Dr. Robotnik. Despite frequently being on the receiving end of verbal abuse and humiliation, Stone never complains and performs every menial task assigned to him with a positive attitude. He is shown to be completely subservient, yet his devotion goes beyond mere duty; he genuinely cares for and admires the doctor. Stone understands Robotnik's antics and eccentricities better than anyone else, acting as a translator of sorts between the doctor and other, less perceptive individuals. His calm and professional demeanor serves as a direct contrast to Robotnik's manic and grandiose personality.

Stone's primary motivation is his devotion to Dr. Robotnik. This is demonstrated through small, thoughtful actions, such as preparing lattes with steamed Austrian goat milk, a beverage that Robotnik genuinely appreciates. His motivation is tested and proven when Robotnik is banished to the Mushroom Planet at the end of the first film. During his absence, Stone remains loyal, following the doctor's implied manifesto to survive and preparing for his return. He takes over a coffee shop called the Mean Bean, which secretly functions as a hi-tech base of operations, and is shown making latte art depicting Robotnik's face, demonstrating that a part of him is missing without his boss.

In the story of the second film, Stone plays a crucial role as Robotnik's support system upon his return to Earth. He provides a secret hideout, helps monitor the search for the Master Emerald, and even selects a new villainous outfit for the doctor. When Robotnik acquires the power of the Master Emerald and builds a giant robotic mech, Stone is taken aboard and trusted with operating its weapon systems, proving his value as more than just a simple lackey. After the mech is destroyed and Robotnik goes missing again, Stone demonstrates his resourcefulness by disguising himself as a G.U.N. agent to investigate a mysterious file known as Project Shadow.

Key relationships center almost entirely on Dr. Robotnik. While the doctor is not empathetic or respectful towards most humans, he does show a unique, if grudging, appreciation for Stone, particularly for his coffee-making skills. After his isolation on the Mushroom Planet, where he even carved a rock to resemble Stone for companionship, Robotnik is noticeably less abusive in their second film together, suggesting he has come to value Stone's presence. The relationship has been interpreted by fans as a deep and devoted bond, with Stone representing the closest thing to a friend or companion that the egotistical Robotnik has ever had.

Regarding character development, Stone evolves from a relatively minor role as a simple exposition tool in the first film to a more prominent and active participant in the sequel. He proves himself to be competent and capable in his own right, able to maintain Robotnik's technology and execute complex plans independently. His arc in the second film explores his state of being lost without his purpose, followed by his joyous and enthusiastic return to service.

Notable abilities include his surprising technical and scientific competence. After Robotnik's resources are confiscated, Stone is able to keep the Badnik drones in working order. He is also a skilled barista, renowned for his ability to make exceptional coffee, a skill that directly contributes to his value in Robotnik's eyes. Beyond these domestic and technical skills, he has also demonstrated proficiency in operating advanced weapon systems and infiltrating secure government organizations.
