Description
Motzel is a minor character from the early East Blue saga of One Piece. He is introduced as a regular customer of the Baratie, the floating restaurant. Physically, he is an overweight man with a flat nose, round eyes, thick eyebrows, and large lips. His hair is brown in the original manga and gray in the anime adaptation, and it is curled up. He typically wears a purple shirt decorated with a swirl or floral pattern. Motzel is described as a gourmand, meaning he has a refined taste for good food and frequents the Baratie for its high-quality cuisine. However, his personality includes a dishonest streak: he has a habit of stealing food from others. During his only notable appearance in the story, Motzel visits the Baratie with his young daughter. While his daughter becomes distracted by the presence of the Marine lieutenant Fullbody, Motzel takes advantage of her inattention and steals food from her plate. This leads to a brief argument between father and daughter after she discovers the theft. His role in the narrative is very minor and serves primarily as a background character to illustrate the setting and clientele of the Baratie. There is no further development of his character, nor does he possess any notable abilities, combat skills, or deeper motivations beyond enjoying fine dining and acting selfishly. He appears only in the Baratie arc and has no involvement in later storylines such as Dressrosa. No significant relationships beyond his daughter are established, and he does not undergo any character growth.
