Otto served as a knight for the Houtman family, once known by the intimidating moniker "Otto the Blitz" in his youth due to his remarkable speed and sword mastery. Present during Fena Houtman's childhood, he later intervened to rescue her from an arranged marriage to British soldier Maxiver Jr. on the island of Shangri-La. Otto, alongside fellow knight Salman and members of the Samurai Seven, participated in Fena's escape from the island. Following the rescue, Otto fled Shangri-La aboard a makeshift raft with Fena, Salman, and a dog named Brule, eventually landing on Goblin Island.
